Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
being cut could hurt their strength, which is not good in strongman:)
haha u got alooooot to learn about the iron game my frend
different type of hypertrophy from training with maximal and near maximal loads, and being ripped or cut is detrimental to strenuos strongman training which involves hours of grueling event training utilizing multiple joints and muscle groups , and hard hours of heavy training in the gym equate to a huge appetite. IF YOU WANNA BE STRONG LIKE A BEAR YOU GOTTA EAT LIKE A BEAR
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
Because its strongman, not bodybuilding.
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition?
Hell yes! It's the best thing on TV! Bring on Bergmanis!
Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
The popular portrayal of physiquesters being the strongest people in the world is not accurate. Of course there will be some who are world class strong, but they are the exception - not the rule (so please, nobody post Pudzian pics saying,"...see, strongmen are cut" or "...what about him..." please no more!) It takes a lot of energy out of a body to cut up and diet, energy that could be used to become stronger.
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
I have no idea what the stongiest man competition is. Sorry.
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
Because, unlike bodbuilders, they are concerned with functional strength, not pretty lines and definition. There is no practical purpose whatsoever in training to be ripped or cut except to look pretty. You can be strong and pretty, but the two are not mutually inclusive.
Bodybuilder

Which of those do you think has more realistic strength?

Well said, you can really see the difference, bodybuilders don't really have strength but johnnie jackson is strong as he's a powerlifter
Mariusz!
Yeah Mariusz, He's my hero, he will be the Greatest Of All Time, he'll win WSM this year and next and then again in 2006 and carry on like that. I think he'll total at 9 WSM trophies
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
That question isn't very intelligent, is it?
i bet ronnie is stronger than most powerlifters
Have you ever watched the stongiest man competition? Wye arnt they ripped or cut?
I do not understand.
Probaly a bad thread.
Offtopic-
This is why we need Bigpoppa to clean up this forum and get rid of bad therads.
Just waiting forthis to happen......
i bet ronnie is stronger than most powerlifters
Oh good Lord not that one again.
Just in case you're not taking the piss:
-Ronnie Coleman is not as good (lb for lb) at powerlifting as top powerlifters. This is because he is not a powerlifter.
-Ronnie Coleman used to be a powerlifter. He was rather good at it. No surprise: he's a very strong guy.
-If Ronnie Coleman devoted his training to powerlifting (or had done over the last ten years or so) he might well be an excellent powerlifter.
Yeah Mariusz, He's my hero, he will be the Greatest Of All Time, he'll win WSM this year and next and then again in 2006 and carry on like that. I think he'll total at 9 WSM trophies
I heard from someone who knows one of the drug testers (!) at WSM that Mariusz said no one would dare to find him positive. Probably right.

tests are only done for recreational drugs (for example *******, speed, x, etc). anabolics and low grade amphetamines are fair game.
thanks Pridg...i dont see it happenin tho :(
and whoever said the Ronnie coment...
The sport is changing though. If you look at mariusz, you will see that he is ripped like a Bber. But he ISNT some freak of nature. Actually, if you look at a lot of Polish strongman you will notice that they have similar looks to Mariusz. Strongman needs a lot cardio conditioniong these days as well as huge strength.
Bodybuilders have tried but more often then not have failed when competing against strongmen. Going back to the 80's when Franco Columbo(self proclaimed strongest man) and Lou Ferigno ventured into Strongman comps. and failed. Even recently we saw Eddie Elwood have trouble qualifying for WSM finals. Bodybuilders dont have a good track record because they're either not strong enough or their muscles are not used to those types of stresses resulting in injuries.
hey don't rip on franco columbo...first of all he didn't do that bad at all for someone who only weighs around 200pds and is like 5 foot 4. SECONDLY franco columbo was a great powerlifting champ back before shirts were around etc. He was an IPF champion, and he had a 730 deadlift, 525 bench, and 650...all at 200pd bodyweight and basically raw, imagine a 200pd lifter benching 525 RAW? Imagine franco. if you don't think thats impressive and that he doesn't know a thing or two about pl training and strength training you are wrong, by the way he also had a 400pd clean and jerk and 285 snatch which aint too shabby for a non-oly lifter who weighs only around 200pds

Dont get me wrong Franco is someone i've idolized since i started this game. Being 5'6 170-175lbs i can relate to this little giant. I dont remember how Franco did (I never seen the footage) but i do remember reading that he got injured carrying the safe. I said bodybuilders dont do as well because they're not used to the stresses and the ackward movements thus they tend to get injured more easily then strongmen.
This guy looks ripped,
He looks okay to me. :)

so you dont think pl'ers should cut weight?
so you dont think pl'ers should cut weight?
Why? What advantage would there be for a SHW to watch his diet?
Why? What advantage would there be for a SHW to watch his diet?
Any athlete should watch his diet bro. Just because you are not worried about cosmetics, it does not mean you should shouldn't be aware about your nutrition, as athletic performance is linked to your nutrition.
