Hello everyone. I was just wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to work abs 3 times a week. (mon, wed, fri.) to sum up: If I destroy my abs on monday and feel fine on wed would it be ok to detroy them again?

id say maximum twice a week. 2days in between sessions isnt enough if youre going that hard on our abs

Deep down I already knew this but it can't hurt to dream right? Thanks for the input. =)
you can probly can pull it off the odd week but i agree twice a week is good, i think people tend to think abs and calves can be trained much more but it doesnt seem like enough rest really.

Never can do enough abs, my routine as such:
mon: abs/cardio
tues: abs/abs
wed: abs/cardio
thurs: rest... or abs/cardio
fri: abs
sat:rest
sun: abs/cardio
Solid
I'd say only 2-3x with 2-3 exercises each time. I do a lot of heavy compound lifting and I only do them like twice a week... they get sore just from me tensing them up when I am squatting/deadlifting/over head pressing and etc..
I do abs 2-3 times a week depending on how they feel. Since I have been doing some weighted ab exercises it seems to have given my abs some thickness, I'll try to upload my picture from my blackberry. My webcam takes awful shots due to lighting.
I wouldn't waste your time training them 3 times per week, that is too much and training abs is probably the least important part of the 3 things you need to do for good abs. In my gym there is a definate indirect correlation between the people who train abs all the time and the people who have the best abs - The people with the best abs you rarely see them train them.
I would do them twice maximum per week (but properly go at them with all different exercises) but I would also recommend that you concentrate alot more on your bodyfat by sorting cardio and diet as that is what will get you the results.
Realistically you do need to do all 3 but i'm just making the point that endless crunches won't get you a 6-pack by themselves!

I'm not some noob that only trains abs don't worry but thanks for your concern. Endless cruches wont get u a six pack period, it's weighted ab exercises that do that.
The fail is strong with this thread.
1 Abdominal definition comes from low body fat %.
2 Abs are just like any other muscle. For optimal growth it is required to train with heavy weight. You wouldn't do 100 bicep curls would you?
3 Abs are just like any other muscle. You wouldn't work biceps 3 times a week, or do you?

NO!!!!! ab definition doesnt come from lower BF% it comes from having a beer belly. When u accumilate a beer belly only then will you trully aquire the abs u desire. joseph all this goes without saying and this was not the thread topic to begin with. =) Nice .gif btw.

Abs is a muscle that recovers faster though so twice a week is good
abs twice a week-sunday & wednesday
I've been doing 3x a week.
Mon / Fri I go for intensity.
Wed I go for volume / low rest.
It works okay for me, but I haven't really tried any less than 3 days.

I wasn't concerned and I didn't call you a noob either. I was giving you advice as you asked for it!

I also work abs twice a week but on the off day i work my side abs with some rope crunch. Like you said, i destroy them twice a week then the other days i do more side focused exercises.
So long as u are getting a days rest inbetween you should be ok
Hye bro , i am in same condition as you i would also like to know if doing abs 3 times a week is effetif because i do it can you tell me what you did ?
Monday- Chest Triceps Traps Abs
Tuesday-rest
Wedesday-Back Biceps Traps Abs
Thursday-rest
Friday-Legs Shoulders Traps Abs (4 sets of hammer curl).
That is my routine by the way i only do 1 exercice of traps with 4 sets per workout and for abs i do 3x25 crunches and 3x25 reverse crunchs .
