Depends on your goals
if you goal is to be better at the things crossfit trains then that is the way to go
If you just want to build muscle/get stronger I would be using more traditional methods
I'm pretty sure you need a gym for most Crossfit workouts. Or at least the same amount of equipment you'd need for most other "gym workouts".
crossfit ftw

Crossfit. The sport of fitness has arrived.
it seem like CF people dont get as cut and lean as body building?
It all depends on what your goals are. If your goal is to lose weight then crossfit can do that for you. If you're goal is to put on the most possbile muscle the fastest, hit the weights at the gym.

noob, that workout is 99% standing up and squatting down again until you get dizzy and throw up. If your goal is to sweat and purge your lunch, its a fine workout. If you actually want some sort of physical development, get an actual routine.
But nice seconday account to bump a lame youtube video though.

If you are trying to compare CrossFit to a Gym its good to look at what your trying to achieve. Are you looking for a high intensity competitive environment or a "go at your own pace" style gym setting? You can get a good workout in at either place but when your looking into CrossFit its more of a team effort in some casses compared to individual gains as you would find in a gym.
If your still on the fence about what to do I would recommend that you give this site a look. Its called northrimcrossfit.com/what-is-crossfit. They talk about what CrossFit is, the methods used and how to tell if your ready for that type of workout.
Best of Luck Jonah!

haha yes sir! but seriously, it isn't a bad idea to mix in a few Crossfit workouts every now and again for the challenge!

Some of the barbell complexes, say, are worth a shot if you're feeling frisky, once you have already built a solid foundation of strength and mobility (etc.), as well as simply familiarity and experience with the lifts in question.
If it helps, it can be thought of as "conditioning", and thus automatically farther north of vag, as they say. ;)
Bodybuilding = Look badass
Crossfit = Be badass
Crossfit w/proper diet = Be & look badass
I know it's not smart to post this on a bodybuilding forum...

It only took you two years to come up with that witty addition to the thread...honestly I don't think it was worth the wait.
