I'm 38. Is it typical that I should feel added soreness if I take a week off for a muscle? I typically hit each muscle twice a week (really once every 4 days). It seems weird to me that an extra couple days equals soreness. Maybe my diet is off?

I'm not sure I understand how you can rest just one muscle, but to answer your question it really depends on how you train. Yes an extra couple of days can equal more soreness, but it can also not too. But, no its not "weird", in general, without knowing more about your situation. ( Active recovery sessions help that for me. )
Good luck.
Yep. I usually do quads and hams in the same session, once a week. If I miss the leg session, the following week is doms hell.
Bigtallox is on the money....active recovery....
plus stretching works for me.
Thanks.
I took one freakin day off after 35 straight workouts and am feeling it today LOL>

You do realize your body needs to rest in order to grow, right?
I used to have severe DOMS that would last 6-8 days. I played around with different movements, sets/reps but none seems to really help. Thanks to this site, I learned that I was not taking in enough protein to repair my muscles. I still have some DOMS but its usually only last a day now and is less intense.

Then what did you mean by "I took one freakin day off", if you take off 4 days per week?

With all the educated knowledge that you spew off around here lately... You go and ask a simple question like this to start crap.

I took 1 day where I should have worked out off since the beginning of the year.
I need more protein. Damn.
