Heart rate always gets so high?

I understand to always go with how you feel in the gym. But I would like some explanation. My heart rate increases quickly and easily. I played sports growing up and am well recognized at the gym for frequency... but my heart rate always remains high. I do not take caffeine and am not on any medication. I'm female and have a resting average between 75-80 bpm. Yesterday, I did the stairmaster on a slow level 5. My heart rate was at 175 bpm and I was not sweating or panting...I daydreamed through it. It has never improved. I had a treadmill test several years ago when I was 17 and they had me at 210 bpm for 10 minutes. They didn't explain why it was so high but said something about it not being good because I could pass out and because it seemed I was used to it - I'd been talking and all.

I'd figured, because I work out, my training and my resting heart rate should decrease. But everytime I get on a piece of cardio equipment, it shoots right up..

Explanations?

You should have anorher teadmill test at your current age and get re-evaluated. My heart does the same thing and I was told the electrical impulses are taking a "shortcut" which prevents my heart from being able to regulate itself. Just like you, I was used to it, until my late 40's. Then it got a little tricky and just eating food would cause it to race. I have lower left bundle branch block. I used. Medication briefly until I could get in better shape and now am off the medicine. Without meds my heart still races with exercise but my recovery is faster. I do cardio interval training and give my heart a chance to recover throughout a workout which helps.

I would seek professional medical advise regarding this issue. I have some thoughts but only speculation.

Second this...most people here are not doctors and shouldn't diagnose or treat anyone...your resting heart rate is an average heart rate for a woman of your age, but at a 175 bpm you should be sweating at that point and breathing at a faster rate. I would not be looking at how high it goes but rather how fast it climbs in response to exertion....I would contact a medical professional for advise...it could be something as simple as the equipment your using and it's giving you an inaccurate reading. But who knows!!...get checked.
