lol, c'mon older brahs...please :'(
Go to the doctor. Do you want one of us to stick our finger up your bum and give you an opinion or something?
What is your question specifically? What are you trying to "find relief" for or "cure"? I have tried a few products and only 1 has helped me personally, but you may be different.
If you get a physical ok from a regular doc, you can try reading up on Sarno and TMS theory. It may be a symptom of underlying stress.

Prostatits - acute or chronic? U can get decent info on webmd. Typically u take an alpha blocker(increases blood flow in the prostate area) in combination with an antibiotic (usually a 14 day minimum course) for acute with suspicion of bacteria. Also s itz baths and nsaids are recommended. See ur Md. Chronic is not always curable

Yes, by using methods in post 3.
There are different strains. I had it once and antibiotics cleared it up - eventually. Trials have shown masturbation is supposed to be helpful in clearing the prostate of bacteria. Drink a lot of water, might stop your pee stinging.
I came down with CP in 2006 after having urinary symptoms for years. Had a year of misery - antibiotics didn't work (unsurprsingly since most CPPS isn't bacterial), alpha blockers didn't work, pelvic massgae helped a bit. Turned out the underlying cause was a overly tight bladder neck, so had surgery in 2007. Took me until well into 2008 to get back to the 97% better that I remain at today with the occassional flare up.
Short term prostatitis usually lasts a few weeks to a month and may respond to antibiotics although it may just clear up on its own (like a cold does). CP is a different kettle of fish, and requires different treatments as there are many reasons for it.
Most people get better after a year or two, although they may not be 'cured', but may have flare ups thereafter.
If it's bacterial an antibiotic will clear it up. If it's chronic, avoid alcohol, caffeine and spicy foods. Also an anti-inflammatory can help relieve the symptoms.

lol I have but it's annoying and my symptoms eventually progressed to the point where it feels like I cant empty. It all happened so sudden. First night I thought I had a vericocele, the next I was shivering like a madman with chills

Antibiotic cleared it up somewhat, but I think he gave me one that doesn't typically treat prostattis(Ceftin). The worst of the symptoms left but then it became harder to urinate.

lol but doesn't it suck knowing you may never be the same you, that you once were? Altho in your case at 97% anyone should be thankful, but it's scary having flareups, that u never know where they may lead.
I'm glad u got better brah(SERIOUS), this condition is mentally taxing brah

u beat it, solely off masturbation?
what were your symptoms?

Nah. It's all good. If you'd asked me at the start then maybe, but after a year of feeling like you need to pee all the time and that someone's put barbed wire down your nob it kind of puts things in perspective. My flares are a shadow of my symptoms as well - maybe need to pee every hour during the day and twice at night and a wee bit of discomfort. No biggie.
Are you seeing a urologist for this problem or is it being treated by a general practitioner?
Are you seeing a urologist for this problem or is it being treated by a general practitioner?
yea, but from what I understand. Neither know chit about it
Are you seeing a urologist for this problem or is it being treated by a general practitioner?
Any decent GP should refer you to a urologist if the 1st round of antibiotics doesn't knock it out. I had my first bout with it in 1993 and my next one was in 2010. Both times I needed a second helping of the antibiotic to get rid of it.
A regular UTI can morph into prostatitis and things like spicy food and caffein can set it off too. Also if you are backdooring your significant other, wear a condom.
