I am on a role with my deadlifts. Theyre getting easier and easier. Im consistently adding 15lb every 2 weeks. So in about 2 months i should be close to a 405.
March 1st marks my 1 year point of lifting. Thats the day im going to make my 405 attempt!!!!
gains are not linear. you will learn this. but nice!
gains are not linear. you will learn this. but nice!
Im well aware, but im 100% i can make it to 405 with linear progression with 5lbs every Monday Friday Wednesday Monday Friday Wednesday etc.
Deadlifts are my strongest aspect by far, my form is nearly spot on and everything looks smooth and tight (can post a video if anyone would like), and im f*cking motivated as hell with them.
If i can get to a 375ish for 5, 405 for 1 will be no problem. If only i had the same dedication with my bench lol absolutely despise benching.

i used to be exact same as you. literally. i was repping 375 x 5 and doing 405 deads but bench was around 185 x 4. However, i could barely pull 405 yet i could rep 315 x 20 which gave me an estimated max of 487
-
Anyone got tips on improving grip strength? I want to be able to deadlift double-overhand for massive amounts of weight. And having tree trunks for forearms wouldn't hurt either.

hammer curls
reverse curls
wrist curls
static holds
never use straps
use these techniques to hold 405 from barely gripping 315

Ya those calculators are retarded. And ya lol my max bench was 205x1 before i f*cked my shoulder up. Now im back at 170x5 trying to work my way back up.
My overhead press is getting strong finally. I should have a 120x3x5rep, and 135 in a couple months.

I know! Thanks bro, Gotta keep it going, 170 seems like light weight for me, I hit that mark last semester. Would like to push through that to 190 first.

I record all of my sessions so i can see my bar path and if everything is fluid. But Ill most definitely take a front view of the 405.
Damn cant wait. 405 is weak but in a year from pulling only 155, its great progress imo.

After getting hit by a car and not being able to work out for a few months, I will post my progress pictures after losing a few pounds but basically maintaining my lifts.... a few lbs off. Lost 15 pounds or so. (25 total gained 10 back) muscle memory ftw

just FYI, i strict pressed 135 but only benched 200 and i began to tear down my shoulders because i had no chest activation when i benched. As a result my chest obviously looked terrible and my bench stalled for a good 3-4 months.
After dropping everything and getting all the way down to 158 and starting from scratch i fixed my bench and got ALOT more chest activation. In only 3 months ive gone from 155x 5 to 185 x5 and i havent even worked on strict press all that much. *take home note* make sure your recruiting ALL the muscles, including lats, and dont sacrifice form for weight as some muscles will take over dominance in the lift and you will actually start changing your form (subconsciously) to use more of the dominant muscles and you will stall.

Yea, I wanna use hook grip. I think it just makes you much more bad ass when you lift huge weights without an alternate grip.

An easy way to figure out how much you need to eat per day to get to a certain weight in a certain time is to do this.
Find how many pounds you want to gain, multiply by 3500. Then divide that number by how many days in your bulk. thats how many calories you need to eat OVER YOUR BMR per day.

you can use ground turkey too. more lean and less expensive. oh and dont forget tuna helper. but the large cans of tuna and they will make a whole box worth.

If you're dirty bulking you can eat everything.
My gf gave birth yesterday to a chubby but healthy baby girl. Just thought I would give yall an update. Haven't slept in like 36 hours but I'm about to get a plate of grilled fish, greens and a baked potato from the hospital so hopefully its edible, and then pass out.
Hope everybody is making progress, stay focused guys.

Pretty excited to see this actually, Don't forget !! Planning to add maybe 35-40 lbs to my next deadlift (hit it once a week) Hopefully I can knock that out. 405 is def not easy, lots of people I see at the gym don't hit that much. IMO thats very impressive

How much have you put on within the 2 years ? You def packed some mass on those arms and back!

thats roughly 29 lbs (from 47kg to 60kg) gain in 3-4 months, I'm sure its possible if you dirty bulk. Personally I wouldn't try adding 30 lbs in 3 months or so, wouldn't be much quality there and I feel that I would be adding a lot of fat, and get a gut. I think 4-5lbs gain per month would be much better. Anything you gain really fast you can lose fast.

You could cook on Sunday, I cook up abunch of
tilapia w baked potatoes,
chicken breast and brown rice,
eggs and whole grain bread/banana,
pack them in containers

Go get some beauty sleep ;) Congrats bro, happy for you! Side note you just made me hungry. Time to eat :D
Was planning on staying in today, but decided I had to finish the week 6 off strong and not skip out on shoulders and calves. Got alittle woozy today, but finished my workout. Destroyed both, Can't wait to weigh in tom, then tweak diet some.

Lets see how my 330x5 goes tomorrow, if its as strong as it felt wednesday, ill have that much more confidence.
It shouldnt be too hard to get 405 my march 1st.
I mean, ive only pulled 325x5, and i want to add 60lbs (385) to my 5RM in exactly 3 months. With 385x5 i can undoubtedly pull 405x1.
Thats means i need to add 20lbs each month (very doable imo), and im on track to add roughly 30lbs a month if everything goes well.
-
i weighed around 150 last year when i started moderately working out and around October started lifting harder and got my diet right and weigh 175 now, so hopefully get some good gains ive started recording all my measurements now to compare them and everything. also going to bulk until i hit 200 then maybe cut depending on what i look like

about 40 lbs. started at 155, and fluctuate around 193 now. Yea, chest is definitely a tough point for me, but im trying to adress it. Surprisingly, i think i put the most mass on my legs (no before pics though haha).

I'm at 132 right now and a hard gainer all my life. Thinking about embarking on my first bulk. There's some great motivation in this thread so looking forward to hearing more, learning more and getting bigger!

Hey errybody. New comer checking in. I've been lifting for almost a year now, gained 20 pounds since I started, and trying to gain 20 more. If anyone has any question about SL 5x5 or Intermediate Madcow, I'm your guy! I went from 45 lbs squat to 335 in 10 months. Looking forward to helping anyone who needs it, anyway I can!

Dam... bro you will be ahead of me this coming week. I did, 225 last week, did 4 sets of 8 no problem. Making sure I hit my legs hard def help ...A lot. I hit deadlifts again on Wednesday going to try and add 40 lbs to it. Might be able to catch up to the weight you move around soon. Maybe we can race to 405 ? You have a head start clearly haha So I think you have me there for now. Guess one goal I have is to hit 400 atleast for 1 set of 8 or even 6

Dam seems like we are looking to do the same, you are taller but, I def want to hit 200 and then see what I look like. Probably will have to cut down from there though. Props for getting your diet worked out, most people don't really look too much into what actually they are intaking. 25lbs more to go, not too far off! Whats your time frame for the 25lbs?

ahhh....fauk I wish I was 193 haha Currently working on that now. My chest is coming in pretty good so far. Your legs have mass also, Need to bring mines up. If you are eating good, and hit your chest right you should see results, My chest routine for this month kills my chest. If you like you can try it? I switch up my routines / do weak point training so it varies

Glad I was able to pull you into our community bro! Jesus thats pretty impressive, You squat more than me! lmao I just started back up, I love squats not. I use to really hate them, but they have really helped with the development of my legs. Ahhhh slow and steady
Have you tried 405 on deadlifts yet? :D we are racing there now, you can join if you like ...
fail, just saw you hit 455 + for deadlifts. Dam.....lol
