Protein Fluff
For those of you who have made this or know about it, I know it won't work well with whey protein, but will it still expand at all? I want to make something that will keep me full for hours since I'm on a cut, and I read that protein fluff will do that, but usually only with Casein or slow digesting protein.
-
Why don't you just eat food? Food keeps me full for hours.

If you can locate such a magical food let me know. I have been seeking it for a while and have yet to find it.

I do eat food lol, I just get hungry 30 minutes after I'm done eating. Even veggies, they get me insta-full but it wears off about 15 minutes later.

It works best with casein and egg-whites. The egg-whites really bring out the "fluff".
-
no idea bro.
i have the same problem..i stay hungry.
gum helps.
and i drink tons of water

Alright, I guess I'll just have to buy some casein then!
I'll still try it out with whey later today though and let you guys know. I think it'll still taste good, just not very fluffy.

Packing peanuts + whey = very filling protein source

Inside scoop on whey protein fluff:
-Does expand several times original size
-Does look appetizing at first
-If you don't eat it right away, it gets spongy as **** (what I did, put it in fridge, went on a jog, came back to eat it, boom super spongy)
-Tastes odd because it has so much air in it
PROS:
-FILLING AS ****. Barely had 10 spoonfuls and I'm sick to my stomach
-Will last a while, you can keep snacking on it and always be full
-Taste is bearable
CONS:
-After you eat a small amount, you feel bloated
-Although taste is bearable, it is not ideal (would rather eat veggies)
-Waste of protein

Make sludge instead of fluff, will not dissapoint
-
Anyone have success with protein fluff without a mixer? Is a normal whisk adequate?
-

Had sludge for breakfast this morning, and yes, it was delicious :) Just wanted to try this out.
@Coals, I'm not sure if that will work, it took roughly 10 minutes to fully expand on my high powered mixer. I'm sure you could try though, won't hurt.

Egg whites, duh! After all that's how meringue's are made..plus extra protein...I bet you could make egg white ice cubes and use that instead of the frzn fruit, plus some sugar-free flavoring and it'd be perfectly lo-carb...thanks for the idea. Doing this NOW :)
Packing peanuts + whey = very filling protein source
FACT: Most packing peanuts are made with corn starch. Look up the macros for corn starch. Not good for a cut.

on another note, from what I can tell making a fluff is a lot like making a meringue, so you need very little to no fat in order for it to fluff. Also, it seems that it needs some frozen element but that doesn't necessitate fruit. And of course, casein protein works the best.

I get the same problem.
I dont think it becomes spongy with casein because it is thicker but I could be wrong.

8oz Fat free greek yogurt
scoop of protein
couple hundred grams of various fruit
some cereal/granola
its like a protein fruit parfait, tastes alright... its the most filling thing ive had, the recipe i listed is like less than 500 cals, depending on how much cereal you use. Its like fluff i guess but takes less effort. mix protein powder with yogurt and throw in some other **** and ur good to go

You guys should check out this link where Martin Berkhan talks about protein fluff.

to make it with whey you'll need a thickener like Guar gum
-
Might try that greek yogurt recipe.
Or maybe I'll just buy casein.

Bump to this thread...I just tried this "fluff" for the first time tonight (made it correctly thanks to chef bob's YouTube video) and i can honestly say I feel so bloated and full it's almost painful!!! This stuff fills you up so bad, anyone who is doing contest prep or cutting this is for you:
-40g casein protein
-3 egg whites
-150g frozen strawberries (thawed in the microwave for 1 minute on high)
-100g almond milk
Put egg whites into mixing bowl and blend with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Next add the protein powder and mix on low while slowly adding in the almond milk. Throw in the strawberries and mix on high for 8-10 minutes.*
Note: CONSUME ONLY IF YOU ARE REALLY HUNGRY!!!!

I don't see how fluff could do that... just drink a lot more water if you aren't already
-
Very filling, but once again only lasts about 20-30 minutes and by then all the air in your stomach starts coming out various orifices. Roomates hated it when i made that stuff.
