I don't consume any protein shakes.
once, if i need it to hit my daily protein intake

Sorry if this is a stupid question but why not? I thought they were essential?

Its essentially food, not something magical. Use it to hit your macros.
I find it very difficult to consume my daily protein intake because I'm not the guy who buys the food so I just eat what's in the house which unfortunately doesn't mean a lot of high protein foods.
Thus, I consume protein shake 2/3 times a day even though they taste like ****. :)

Who told you this? Protein shakes aren't essential, however protein is. Whole foods > Protein supplements.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but why not? I thought they were essential?
Essential? God, no.
They're just a processed food that's high in protein. There are numerous other foods, many of which are whole or minimally processed, that are high in protein and that, to me, taste a heck of a lot better than protein shakes.

^^^ The result of supplement companies spending millions of dollars to fool people into thinking their crap is "essential."
1-2 times a day. I LOAD on protein after my workouts. 20 mins after my workout I will make my homemade weight gainer shake (scoop of whey, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1 banana, 1 cup of oats) THEN I will make a high cal, high protein meal and devour it.

Nutrient timing is irrelevant to body composition.
I have quite alot because the rest of my diet is vegan so its hard to get enough protein. I have about 135g mixed protein shakes (like whey, casein, soya ect all mixed) - thats 3x25g 1x50g and 10g in a soya yogurt. And then 30g casein shake before bed.

That marketing is very successful. Here's another example:

Did Spartans have brotein shakes?
mind****.jpg???
When I'm home I make them more because I make them tasty, but only when I want a milkshake not because I need it.
1-3 a day as I have trouble hitting my protein macros without them, need to save my $$ for school!
Zero.
i just take them to fit my macros
at college the cafeteria doesn't always have food to fit my macros on a cut so i use 2-3 a day usually
at home when i use the kitchen and cook i don't have any, we always have lean chicken, broccoli and eggs at my house so i'm never not able to hit my protein requirement
Too expensive for a milkshake lol.
0. Why waste cals on a shake IMO? I do use protein powder though...but in the form as a mix-in with greek yogurt, cereal, sludge, etc.
0....
NO satisfaction in eating a protein shake.. Would rather eat whole food IMO.
Somedays: none. Somedays: 2-3. Depends on whether i'm bulking or cutting and what I'm doing for food the rest of the day. For example, if I'm cutting and eating out for dinner (so likely to get close to my day's calories just in that one meal) I'll have a protein shake before I go to get my protein numbers up, as I find the restaurant meals I eat tend to lack protein..
Only if I need to make up some calories really. I used to think the same way, that they were essential.
I do actually have a really nice protein shake right now, I'd drink if it was just a regular shake.
currently none, only whole foods. but im cutting at the moment. When bulking i'll maybe have 1-2 threw out the day if i don't have time to eat a meal or don't wana eat.

Can not believe nobody has commented about this

Why?
Edit: Never mind. I'm stupid. Thought you were agreeing with taking a shake for DOMS.
I love protein shakes, I'd say I have one every 1-2 days.

I sort of noticed it, but it seemed so stupid I just automatically filtered it.
1 shake with breakfast. I cant eat eggs in the mornings (takes to much time) and i wan't to get some protein in before i go to school
I don't have a shake during weekends
so 5 shakes per week
