is drinking alchohol bad while you're on creatine?
You will get dehydrated really fast.
Considering alcohol is bad period, you should know the answer to that question ...
Best thing you can do to benefit the most from bodybuilding is give up totaly( which I admit is easier said then done) or reduce drastiaclly your alchohol intake( Once every 2 weeks?).
i usuall only drink a few times a year or once every month or two...i just didn't want to really mess anything up...
I drink twice a week (because I'm a dumbass and can't give it up, also because I just turned 19) but I've still been gaining weight, so it's not impossible. I do however drive a protein shake before and after drinking beer.
but the question is drinking while on creatine.... i'm loading.. it's friday.. sigh.. no drinking i suppose?
john
think about this. Creatines results are based on the fact that creatine produces water retention in muscle cells. You drink alcohol and what do you do... piss out all your water. see the problem.

i wouldn't recommend it. Especially when loading. You do not need to load by the way.

Alchohol is bad for you regardless if you're on creatine or not.

John a couple of beers will not hurt. Moderation is key
make sure u eat protein every 2-3 hrs still and drink plenty of water while u drink alcohol, thats all, and stay under 10 drinks
remember what Arnold said, "milk is for babies, men drink beer"!!
I'd suggest a lot more water on nights that your going to be drinking. I''d drink a liter before you go out, try to sneak a cup or two in through the night, and maybe another liter before you go to bed. That should take care of the dehydrating effects of the beer.
Alcohol is bad even if you aren't on creatine. But specifically, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, alcohol, etc, will all cause you to lose water, and consuming a lot of water is very important when it comes to supplementing with creatine.
Alchohol is a no-no for bodybuilder and powerlifters a like.
I drink maybe 3-4 times per year. My bday, new years eve, and maybe 1-2 other nights.
No point in drinking gains away.
You still can drink regularly and gain weight -- but youll get better results if you don't drink.

congradulations, lifting is a PART of my life, it isn't my life. no point of having all these "gains" if you can't have any fun.
you drink 3-4 times a year, congradulations. i drink 3-4 times a month :-) AND i still see the gains that i want. maybe i work that much harder than you..
other than that, thanks everyone. i know alchohol causes dehydration, i posted to see if there were SEVERE side effects such as DEATH!!!!!.. heh.
i drank 2 gallons of water the other day and 1.5 for the past 2. i'm pretty damn hydrated right now..

From a bb aspect, alcohol is not good, and can hinder the gains of creatine. I'd guess the same reason why ephedrine/caffiene are also not good with creatine - diuretics.
Having said that, I got the most chicks when I was drunk. At your stage in life, maybe you're working out mainly to get chicks. If so, then yes - I think alcohol may help you in your goals. If you're trying to become a competative bb, then I'd avoid it.
Bottom line - Yes, alcohol should not be taken with creatine. I've done it, and it hinders gains/recovery.
But alcohol helped me to have others enjoy my gains. :) It's all about what YOU want in life.
Combining alchohol and creatine is a deadly combination. It can lead to spontaneous cumbustion.
Just expect some gnarly hangovers
definetly expect some gnarly hangovers. Isn't dehydration what causes hang overs in the first place?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say most of the people on here are not competing, and will never have the genetics to be succesfull if you do. So why would you give up the fun things like drinking just to look a tiny bit better. I know alot of people who lift, don't eat great, and drink 4+ times a week. They still are big and in shape, they have good genetics. If drinking hinders you that much, are you really going to gain that much more from not drinking? And I drink plenty and use creatine. Like it's been said, drink as much water as you can, especially when you wake up. This will also help with the hangover, which is caused by dehydration.

Do not ever drink alcohol of any kind while taking creatine. If you are going to drink you should not be on creatine. Not at all! About a month after I turnd 19, I went to a bar with my brother, and I was a month into my creatine cycle... My bro said to me "One beer never hurt anybodY" So I decided I would seriously only drink ONE beer then.. Not even half way through I felt really sick, went to the bathroom and threw up, and I passed out, I woke up a few seconds later but had felt like an eternity and didnt know what was going on and I ran out n told my bro and then it happend like 5 more times that night, every time i threw up i passed out.
so to answer your question if you drink any alcohol (even "just one") on creatine, your taking a very big risk. Worst experience of my entire life, and I will never take creatine ever again because of it. So now I train without creatine, or anything with even a little bit of creatine in it (like no xplode) although i take 1 gram of glutamine a day.
no what Arnold said was Milk is for babies when you get older you drink beer
arnold was not all brawn and no brain
he was all brawn b/c he was 1 of the smartest lifters to this day, he knew a lot about nutrition etc, and he was clearly JOKING when he said drink beer if you are a serious lifter.
