My brother asked me why Centrum is bad. And I know it sucks, but I don't know why. Can anybody tell me why NOW adam and vitamins alike are better than centrum?

Thats good knowledge....It sucks because everyone said it does...
Go read ....And actually learn before making remarks...
Don't mean to sound like an ass, but this **** kills me..
"If a million people do something foolish, its still foolish"
From what I've read, centrum was one that was tested and didn't have the amounts and %'s that the label said it did. Beyond that, a lot of those cheaper vitamins have fillers in them that basically render some of the ingredients as inert.
Can't go all that specific for you.
have you compared a Centrum label to a NOW Adam label???
I think Centrum is one of the vitamins that didn't digest all the way. I heard somewhere they end up undigested at the bottom of port-a-potties.(Serious)
Vitamins such as centrum arent as bioavailable as other vitamins. Something like Zinc aspartate is nearly as bioavailble as Zinc Chelate. If it cant be broken down and absorded, then it leaves your system and does nothing for you. Things like Centrum are only absorbed at a 5-15% clip whereas others are almost aborbed entirely.
Look at most of your ZMA complexes and compare them to what is on your centrum bottle. The ZMA complex will be far more bioavailable than your regular vitamin
I take Centrum...simply because Wal-Mart put a whole bunch of the big bottles on sale for $1...Duno why, they go out in 2010, but I have a whole bunch of Centrum. I just double up the dose.
Certain formulas of it have iron in it, which most dudes don't need.

I wouldn't say "bad", just not great.
Besides the amounts and contents... The overall quality of the product does play a role in getting the most out of it... How the body processes the nutrients is highly dependant not only upon how they are packaged (cap or tab), but also upon the form in which they are in.
Let's take Vitamin B12 for example. You can find it in many different forms when contained within multivitamins - Cyanocobalamin, Methylcobalamin and 5-deoxyadenosyl Cobalamin. Cyanocobalamin needs to be first converted by the body to forms that the body uses - Methylcobalamin and 5-deoxyadenosyl Cobalamin. So you can see why Cyanocobalamin would be less than optimal in comparison to Methylcobalamin and 5-deoxyadenosyl Cobalamin.
Other examples include the forms that minerals are in. Chelated forms of many minerals are absorbed by the body better than mineral salts. Let's take Zinc for example. One of the chelated forms of Zinc - Zinc Picolinate, is absorbed by the body better than lesser quality forms like Zinc Oxide.
Now finally add to that the manufacturing method of the multi - A Serious Multivitamin Question: Tablets or Capsules?. Compression tablets may not achieve disintegration in the right spot for proper absorption.
as the others said, the bioavailability is bad. No wonder it is so cheap.
centrum and one-a-day and junk like that are LOADED with fillers and colorings. get a vitamin made from whole food sources or don't even bother.

not centrum silver (no senior citizen)
If you compare one laber vs the other, you will see additions to the premium vitamins.
I take Opti Men...compare that label against the Centrum one.
Also, the source of the vitamins is important. Not all Vitamin A is created equal.
I was on the fence about NOW ADAM...but went with Opti Men as the label looked better to me.
Seriously, look at the Optimen...and tell me if the Centrum looks anything like that.

so if one isnt absorbed as well as another is it safe to assume to take more of the one that isnt as easily absorbed

That just doesn't seem like a preferable alternative. More isn't better. Better is better.

Do you realize how much you look like Andrei Arlovski in your avatar?
I personally think Centrum works fine depending on your goals. I used Centrum/One-Aday before using OT. Worked well for me.
A MV is a MV, but if you want to get something more then look into other options :)

I was thinking along the lines of 3 per day or 2. Not like 5 or 10. I currently take one a day and thats how I take it. Once per day.

remember theres iron in it
I double the dosage...and to be honest, I've noticed no differences between the time I've used my Centrum and the time I've used AST or Animal Pak.
Vitamins likely won't express noticeable benefits in a short duration. The effects are cumulative and perhaps decades down the road the benefits will manifest.
You do realize that's a very broad statement, and one that you would have a very, very, very hard time proving.
It's not much better than a shot in the dark. "Oh, you don't see it now, but you will see it 40 years from now." Um, okay, so there's at least a 40-year wait before I can be pissed by the fact that the high-price multi I was buying isn't all that better than the Centrum I was taking.
If you are eating right... a multi isn't a huge deal anyway. Centrum is fine.
some of the ingredients it contains: titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol, modified food starch, hydrogenated palm oil, modified corn starch (GMO), Red No. 40, Blue No. 2 Aluminum Lake, yellow No. 6. To name a few. Do some research on these ingredients and you will learn more.

Because 1 serving of orange triad or animal pak equals to the whole vottle itself :D
I'm not a bodybuilder, the reason I am here is because I want to know what is best for my body. Typically one tablet a day is the maximum amount so; which one then?
Practically everyone agreed that Centrum men has issues relating to the quality of the nutritional supplement but that has not stopped me buying the stuff and trying it - it's not bad okay, worth what you're paying for.
That being said, I am not a bodybuilder. Upon careful comparison and consideration of RDA amounts of both tablets, I prefer Wellman Original for supplemental nutrition because I am fanatical over my sperm quality (also try selenum).
The strength of Centrum is that Centrum gives you (theoretically) more nutrients to grow muscles but less energy (i.e. Centrium has less Thiamin-B1).
