l-arginine as an aa, can't be used by your body, works with children. although, in an athlete's body, arginine AKG is a precursor of nitric oxide, wich causes vasodilatation, blood flow, and gives you a lil extra energy. but no, there is no cientifically proven studies that show arginine is bad for heart.
