I know neither EPA nor DHA are essential, I was speaking purely in terms of supplementation preference of EPA over DHA. From the research I've done after beginning this thread I read that EPA is beneficial to the immune system rather than detrimental.
As with everything, it's dose dependent but EPA can negatively effect the immune system and if you have certain medical conditions it may excaerbate them as well. Likely, not a concern for most and I don't see any particular reason to avoid DHA as any issues it may have would be applicable to other pufas.
I have seen a few recommendations to stay away from ibedenone until more is known about it's efficacy as compared to Ubiquinol. I don't put much emphasis on the recommendation of a few doctors when there are several who say the exact opposite, but I just found that to be interesting.
Do you have personal experience with ibedenone? I'd be interested in trying it sometime, I don't have the most experience with nootropics so if you could elaborate on how you "feel" different when using ibedenone over ubiquinol I would appreciate it, thanks! :)
I've seen the same precautionary warnings to avoid any particular substance given its relative(by comparison) lack of research. I never see any specific concerns addressed though and certainly none that would not also pertain to its analogs.
I have a fair bit of experience with idebenone throughout several years of use. The nootropic effect is moderate and I would liken it to ALCAR in terms of effects. Improved concentration and reduction in mental fatigue. Quite evident near the end of the day as I can still maintain focus on tasks at hand. Also seems to have an potent anti-inflammatory effect. DOMS is significantly reduced. I also read that it was used in various lotions and it could protect against sun damage. I've used it to treat sunburns and there is a noticeable reduction in redness and inflammation. If used prior to sun exposure and especially in conjunction with a sunscreen then it completely abates any sunburn, whereas sunscreen alone wouldn't. Typically use 100mg 2-3 times per day with a meal preferrably high in fat. In comparison, 600mg of CoQ10 elicited no discernable effects hence my preference towards ideb.

I am in class so I will find it later, but I believe there is a recent study showing that ingestion of DHA along with EPA will hinder the anti-depression/mood enhancing effects of EPA

600mg of CoQ10 is on the high end, no? I must say I am intrigued by your review and will definitely try it and try and compare it with 100mg ED Ubiquinol.
We should have a thread that is geared more towards supplements for overall health rather than just the ergogenic supplements.
After some help from a few great forum members (Peter and chasin) I have come up with, what I feel, is a pretty decent arrangement of supplements that I will order today and begin next week. Please add your contributions to this thread so that we may hopefully have a nice array of ideas and suggestions.
1. Country Life Omega 3 Mood- I picked this because it is manufactured in a cGMP facility, and each serving provides 1,000mg of EPA with only 150mg of DHA, total of 2,000 mg of fish oil coming from sardines and anchovies
2. NOW Ubiquinol- After doing some of my own research and reading some of the testimonials of some individuals on this forum (jkeith, des, cognitivenutrition, etc.) I decided to go with the Kaneka QH reduced Ubiquinol. NOW is a brand that I trust, and NOW provides 100mg of Ubiquinol in 60 softgels.
3. Jarrow Formulas SAMe 400mg- I have previously taken another brand of SAMe @ 800mg per day with great results (positive outlook wise). I am going to begin with 400mg this time, and move it up to 800 and see if I notice any difference. SAMe is rather expensive, so if I can get away with using 400mg a day I would be happy.
4. AOR Advanced B- Complex- chasin provided some great information on this in a few earlier threads discussing the importance of B supplementation when taking SAMe, not to mention all of the other great health benefits that come along with a B-Complex.
5. Garden of Life Primal Defense Ultra OR RPN Gut Health- I've spoken about GOL Primal Defense Ultra for years now, I simply love that product and think it is one of the best products I have ever used. Gut Health intrigues me, and while it is extremely unfortunate that it is going out of production, I am sure that it's replacement will be just as good if not better than it's predecessor.
6. Kyolic Garlic Cardiovascular Formula 100- I have taken this for quite a while also. Garlic has purported cardiovascular benefits, along with the known antimicrobial properties.
7. Solaray Oil of Oregano- This can be used topically or internally, I personally drink 5 drops in some water every day for it's antimicrobial properties, as well as to help the probiotic keep any candida at bay.
8. Emergen-C- I am taking this because I have about 30 packs left over.
So there you have it, thoughts and suggestions are appreciated, and please add your own stack if you have one!
Excellent idea for a thread!
Semi related. I plan on starting a vision stack shortly once I find a good eye doctor to give me my baseline score. My night vision and light glare is an issue.
Here's what I plan to take for 6 months:
LEF N-Acetylcarnosine eye drops
LEF Super Zeaxanthin with Lutein & Meso-Zeaxanthin
AOR Vision Support
Anyone have any additional suggestions?
-
LEF N-Acetylcarnosine eye drops
Price compared to AOR?
-
Price compared to AOR?
Better price for me from what I recall. I'll check and see if I can find AOR's price.
-
LEF N-Acetylcarnosine eye drops
LEF Super Zeaxanthin with Lutein & Meso-Zeaxanthin
AOR Vision Support
I don't know if you already take it or not, but a protocol very similar to the ACES+B and minerals regimen in extremely high doses helped slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration. I would probably refrain from the extremely high doses part though.
-
Yes lol. I tried to do something similar but it was abit much for me.
No Kidding, there is a point when i just think it's over board, but i still have a way to go, to make sure i am getting at least a few of the top supps to help with my over all health.

I need new laptop and would have contributed to this thread by now I am sure... maybe getting one this weekend... I take quite a few health-based as products so when I get a chance I'll post something... I do use AOR's vision support and the Ortho Eyes which I think most recommend over the LEF product as it is purer without the added vitamins, which some recommend avoiding in an eye drop topical... the postive studies used a pure N-Acetylcarnosine like Ortho Eyes and anything else added may interfere with benefits.
Also, see my sig... insulin control is a big player in the anti-aging/health community. Ortho Glucose II looks like one of the most promising products in that regard I have seen... it was just released.

Which brand laptops are you thinking about? LEF's product does not have any added vitamins and is the same as AOR's except a better price.
Just saw OrthoGlucose 2 release myself looks good. Ortho Sleep looks good too.
-
Just picked up some TMG and a combo of ResV, grape seed extract and red wine extract.

I must be mistaken then... Apologize for that. Maybe they have a new formula now with their brite eyes III or it was another product.
Ortho Glucose 2 and Ortho Sleep look very, very good. I was let down by ortho glucose 1 as it didn't live up to my expectations, but this one is much improved... I'll be using it as I begin to cut in the coming months, as part of a healthy approach.

It's about time you showed up :)
Let me know how you like Ortho Glucose II please, it looks interesting and I would be interested in seeing some personal feedback.

Yeah, thanks. I will def. get back to you guys on this... I'm lovin' the profile and will be using it, as i say, on my upcoming get lean plan. Any logs I do during this time, I will mention Ortho Glucose. I really like it as something with an anti-aging/health-based approach to getting and maintaining lean mass... not a bad idea for those who train year round and do so as a lifestyle.
