Theres two sprinters in my town who run mid 10s and they both ran between 12.8 and 13.0 at that age.
I would say the 13 range is about accurate. I ran around a 14 in 8th grade and now I'm in the low to mid 11's as a senior.
Its crazy though, theres a girl in my town who can run a 12.0 and is only 13.
Would just doing sprints everyday help me get better or would i have to something else to get better?
Sprinting is the only thing that can help you get better at sprinting, but a good workout that works your core and legs would be helpful as well (squats, dead lifts, etc.)
Speaking of that girl who can run a 12.0.. I'd watch out for her in the olympics. Girls in high school that are the best in my state run around a 12.

so just sprinting on flat ground? cause i've heard of going uphill helps too.
thanks
Sprinting uphill will decrease your stride frequency. If anything, I would sprint on a slight decline so my muscle memory becomes adjusted to a faster frequency and longer stride. Do a search on these boards, there is a TON of information.
Ok thank you very much.

Great advice, but i have heard running downhill increases pressure on pounding and therefore is bad for the knees so if you're going to do this do it on grass.

She's obviously juicing
lol.. I dont think so, shes just got crazy genetics. She went to youth olympics for a couple events. Her sister was the same but she gave it up.
in 8th grade i ran the 100 YARD dash in 12.6 (13.6 100m).
oops that's what i meant lol 100yd. sry
Don't go down hill, go up hill. Obviously slower frequency (downhill has equal disadvantages in this respect), but it forces full triple extention and also puts you in a good accel position. Also, the decreased speed can keep ham injuries from happening.
well my pb was 11.07 FAT last year and i was a sophomore and i went to the provincials here in canada so that should give you an idea.

it depends on who you are. Like me, i run track, and i run 11.2. I'm 14, 118, 5"6. But, I think the average person who doesn't run track should run 13.00 or below.
heh...we're about even....im 16, 5"7, 130.

girls hit there peak at 15-16!
Even though I posted earlier, I do agree with going uphill as well. Didn't clarify that to begin with. When I was in middle school, our coach made us run the steepest hill I've seen to this point in my life. It helped with leg strength.

Yeah, that's why all the girls in the Olympics are 15 years old.
the girl who runs 12 will be the next carl lewis with tits
well on my team theres 6 guys that run 11.6 or better, our fastest guys are myself at 11.1 and some kid at 11.1. these were timed at practice, and down here all we do is hand time unless we go to new englands. by the way im 5'6 146 15 years old
Come talk to me when you have 3 guys that run a 10.3 on the same team. Haha, school named West Charlotte here in North Carolina has been absolutely stacked for as long as I can remember. 3 out of the 4 fastest guys in the 100m in the state went to that school last year.

sounds sorta like long beach poly in the past years.
130 pounds? ****son, sprinters aren't made to be that thin. Put some mass on yourselves...
back in the day, in 8th grade, i ran about a 13 flat in the 100...which was damn good at the time. so, go for that. but, you just don't decide to be a sprinter -- i started out as an 800 runner. you need to find your groove to find your race.

Yeah but that's 10.3 hand timed. Not that those guys aren't quite fast......but they wouldn't hold a candle to the OD Wyatt sprint corps of the late 90's (39.76 4x100m).
I looked it up and the best time for them last year was 41.15 on the 4x100

For who? The NC team?
