I don't know how they pulled it off --they don't have any York weights in their gym.

Stay on topic.
I now possess two split sleeves... Both are cosmetically nice and will clean up in no time. One of them has an ever so slight wobble onmy rack pins.
Sounds like a perfect candidate for a dedicated squat bar.
Edit: one difference......the bar that looks a bit more used has way wider (1/2 in??)ring lines than the other bar which has really narrow ring lines (1/4 in)
I also have two split-sleeve bars and have noticed the same thing. One of mine has rings that are only about 1/8" while the other is closer to 3/8".
Pics so we can see what you are talking about.

They're also at different distances from the sleeves. The wide one starts 6" away from the sleeve while the narrow one starts at about 6 5/8".
In these next two pics, the 12" scale is butted up against the right inner sleeve-stop.

I have never seen such narrow "rings" before. May we see pics of the rest of the bar?

York-marked (wide ring) on the left, unknown (narrow ring) bar on the right.

The two bars that I have are identical to Stasher's bars.
My first reaction is that I had two different York bars. Surely, over the years, they made slight changes.
Can anyone date these bars based on what we see above or shall I or Stasher forward pics to York for fun?

Are either of your bars marked "York"? The one I have with the wide rings is marked, but the narrow ring bar is not.

Both are marked
All four collars have York Barbell on them with York PA opposite.

Hmmm...roll pins or set screws?
Hmmm...roll pins or set screws?
The end caps are roll pins on both bars. Also, neither of my bars has a screw in the collar like what one of your pictures shows.
Does anybody know anything about these plates it appears to be the exact casting as 70/80s milled yorks but the milling is circular. I never seen this do you think maybe York would also make plates for other company's at one time or another?
I bought a rusty DP set off CL last fall & came here to learn how to refinish them. After reading threads like this one I searched & found this set was sold through the JC Penny catalog. It's an exact copy of the York design: plate castings, spin-lock collars, split-sleeve bar. York must have licensed it.
If you look closely at your plate you'll see it's stamped "TAIWAN" just below the hole. All of my plates have the concentric lathe marks.
