Could someone list all agonist, antagonist and synergist of the push-up?
Target (agonist)
Pectoralis Major, Sternal
Synergists
Pectoralis Major, Clavicular
Deltoid, Anterior
Triceps Brachii
Dynamic Stabilizers
Biceps Brachii, Short Head
Stabilizers
Rectus Abdominis
Obliques
Quadriceps
from exrx.net
Antagonists are probably: posterior deltoid, rhomboids, trapezius, teres major.
Defiant1 will be here any sec to argue about these though... :D
What about antagonist?.....Sorry to be specific I was looking at exrx as well, can't seem to find that many sites with info...
edit: Sorry I mean direct from a site...no offense towards you lol
I was wondering why the biceps are considered a stabilizers and not an antagonist?...and how come the triceps are not considered to be agonists?
Because the triceps help the movement.

I understand this but it just seems that they play a major role in the movement...I was under the impression that an agonist is any muscle that plays a major role in the movement...
ahh come on...no Kinesiology gurus?
the triceps are a regulator.. this is similar to an agonist but it contracts eccentrically rather than concentrically controlling the speed of the downward phase of a pressup
