im 135 trying to get to 155.
Depends on your weight...135-155 isnt gonna take to long.....maybe 4-6 months
you must be trippin
20lb of muscle will take a year at least
note: youre prolly going to gain an equal amount of fat with that 20lb of muscle
if you lift hard and eat alot, dont miss anything
you can get it at a minimum of 2 months

this.
pure muscle probly a year
Yup definitely a year+
With good genetics, eating really well, never missing a workout etc, basically perfect conditions you could do it in 4-6 months, but you would go higher than 155 and have a part of it be fat. No one gains "pure muscle" when they bulk, theres almost always at least a little bit of fat

Please STFU.
ya its not goin to be pure, the guy didnt specify, he can gain 20 lbs and yes there is goin to be fat but he is not goin to look fat
what types of supplements do you suggest?
I know you mean well, but bollocks.
It will take well over a year for a person at any weight to obtain 20lbs of pure muscle. As you gain "weight" you are also gaining stores of other things and not necessarily "muscle."
I would say for the average person, it would take almost 2 years...or if you were spot on with your routine and diet, 18 months.

well what types of supplements and things would help show the fastest results?
well what types of supplements and things would help show the fastest results?
Diet is the most important thing in showing fastest results, but here are some supplements that will help.
- Protein powders (mainly for convenience)
- Multi-Vitmain
- Creatine
i managed to get from 132 to 155 in about 5 months. mostly muscle, but my abs are less defined so some fat came with it.
It depends on your genetics and how much you eat/how well you eat, there are a ton of variables.

would a weight gainer help? or would that just put on too much fat?
LMAO at TestE suggestion.
Gonna take a few years mate.
Get a weight gainer, you're gonna gain fat. But if you're training hard and gaining fat you can take solace in knowing your definitely gaining some muscle.
I gained 20lbs of muscle and 1%bf in a year and a half so yeah...
would a weight gainer help? or would that just put on too much fat?
There is no possible way to answer that question.
Yes it would help, weight gainers are just extra calories which will help you put on weight/muscle if you are having trouble getting in enough calories through whole foods, but it all depends on how much of a calorie surplus you are in which will determin how much fat you will be gaining. If you cant get enough calories through your diet in order for muscle growth then yes supplementing with a weight gainer would help, but it will only put on fat if you are too much in a calorie surplus. Weight gainers just dont automatically put on fat its just extra calories just like from whole foods, fat gain will result if calories consumed are TOO high.
Noimsayn?

what do you suggest i use?
most people wont gain more than 10 pounds of PURE muscle in a year, however water weight included, and any fat gains 20 pounds is achivable in 3-5 months.
from personal experience (i'm a pretty hardgainer) i went from 135-155 in about 3 months.
- edit: these 3 months i was at home during the summer and i literally ate 10oz prime rib steaks 3-4x a week w/ a ridiculous amount of garlic bread, potatoes, etc. and 5 eggs + toast every morning (like 4-5k cals a day total)
but i started at around 120 and it took me about 4months for the 120-135 jump.
and my 35lb gains definitely were not all muscle. i didn't get fat but i am definitely less defined.
my supps were just whey + creatine + avg. 3-4k cals a day.
