it really depends on your metabolism and the amount of money you can put into bulking.
i'm trying my best to gain weight right now. i'm consuming a minimum of 4000kcal and sometimes upwards of 7k. thats with a gallon of whole milk and quite a bit of peanut butter before bed. this is only yielding me about .7-1lb a week. So in a year I could gain upwards of 45-50lbs and that's not counting once I start getting heavier that i'll need a higher caloric intake. again, it all depends on your metabolism. i know a guy how can literally gain 5+lbs in single weekend.

What is your overall goal my soul brother?
I went from 176 lbs to ~240 in 10ish months. Ate like a pig and drank half a gallon of milk everyday for the whole period.
its possible but will make you really fat in my opinion

at 240 or even now at 225 how fat are we talking?
At 240 I was fat but not obese. I've since then dropped down to 213 and I still carry a little "excess fat" (no more then I had at 176 to be honest) but I have retained my peak strength from when I was 240. It was worth it.

Looking to get to about 200lbs @ 5'6". I think any more weight than that for my height would be unhealthly.
Power to you man , but if you're really planning on trying to put on 70lbs in a year it's going to be a lot of bodyfat. And from my experience when ever i went from 240 to 280 in six months , I felt like **** and i was out of breath just walking up stairs.
I really wouldn't recommend it, really about 50 pounds of that is gonna be fat. Just focus on getting as strong as possible at a certain weight and gain weight when you feel you need to.

I was wondering this. Just saw your answer.
Thats ideally what I'd like to do over the next couple years. 10 months is some seriously bulkage.
I'd like to go from 165 to 200 this year.
anothing over 1-2 lbs of weight gain a month is gonna be just fat, which idk about you but i prefer to stay lean

can it be done? yes
Easily? depends on how you eat. eating really clean becomes a chore and eventually very unpleasant after awhile, especially if youre trying to bulk at your rate. you CAN eat like **** (ie. lots of fast food) and maintain a decent body comp (or as decent as it gets when you gain 70lbs in a year) but you have to really stay on top of the macros and calories and make sure you dont dramatically overshoot them to minimize fat gain. and you WILL gain alot of fat by bulking 70lbs in under a year, but you can also get really strong, so make the weight gain worth it.

It wont be unhealthy if you do it correctly. There are some dudes in the 220's that are 5'"4-5'7"
What the hell do you wanna gain 70lbs for? You realize you're in the Powerlifting forum, right?
if your powerlifting, why not just stay in your weight class until you just can't make weight anymore, Then move up to the next class. This will allow you to add about 10 lbs.

I would respectfully disagree with that assertion.

Strong bump. So did you gain the 70 lbs? I can't believe I missed this thread in Feb. I don't think I've ever seen a thread in the powerlifting section that has someone who wants to actually bulk, they are all about skinny *******s trying to cut more weight.

Me too. Just because I get winded eating a sandwich doesnt mean Im unhealthy. Also; aware that Im posting in an old thread.
