Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I hope today finds you all well.
I spent the morning hiking. According to my GPS, I did 7.17 miles. I hiked out of 24th St. Mormon Trail then took National Trail west to Buena Vista Point. There were tons of mountain bikers out today and lots of people with kids. Most of the hikers were at the beginning of the trail. The further into the the hike I got, the less people I saw. I was on my own today. I love hiking solo. The quiet and peaceful time is the best.
Here are some cell phone pics from today.
Looking east on National Trail.

National Trail. I liked the look of that cactus guarding the rock formation.

The TV towers. This is the highest point on South Mountain. It's closed to the public. I was pretty close today.

Another pic from Buena Vista. It's hard to tell from the pic, but the drop off here has to be about 200 feet.
Anyone here bow hunt? I'm looking to pick up a used bow on CL. Looking for Hoyt, PSE, Mathews, Bear. Anyone have a good forum to point me in the right direction. Thanks.
I am on the board of directors for our archery club. I frequent archerytalk.com. They have a lot of whiners and trouble makers there but good info isn't too hard to get once you sift through the bs. They actually have a classified section that gets a lot of use as well.
Yankee,
Nice pics. To see you hiking several miles, is a testament to your strong will, with the health curves that life has given you over the last few years. Good job.

Thanks for the kind words. I've always believed you can do pretty much anything if you put your mind to it. I worked my ass off in rehab for the knee. I'm sure at some time I'll get the ACL fixed, but right now, it's not on my short list. My knee brace is great and keeps me stable. People on the trail stare at me like I'm crazy and a bunch of hikers have stopped to ask me what injury I had. It's all good. I'm working my way back up to 10 mile trips.

I just found out about that Tuesday that's horrible. Last year i orderd a few classic photos of him that he autographed for me. He was a true bodybuilding legend and loved to train. We will probably never again see a physique like that. This waist and thighs were the same measurement !!!! Rest in peace Sergio

Knowledgeable as hell too and willing to share it. He used to have a thread on here where he would post and answer questions. Just a great legend.
Anybody lifting on turkey day?
I did some basic hiking and also went out on a paddle boat, turns out paddle boating the day after heavy leg day kinda sucks...
@KB, those hiking picks on the previous page are stunning dude! Where is that area, arizona or something?

RIP Sergio. I met him at a Dan Lurie show in the late 70's, I think it was at the Beacon Theatre. I'm only 5'8" and was much taller than him, but his physique was phenomenal, and freaky. Nice guy, and he would give anybody the time of the day. He was a guest poser at the show, and at the time all of the contestants went into the lobby between shows to sell supplements and t-shirts. Those were the days. Sergio truly was a legend !

Yep, northeast of Phoenix in the Superstition Mountains.
I ended up mountain biking on Thanksgiving. I went hiking on Friday and went mountain biking again today. I hadn't been on my bike in a long while. The first several miles on Thursday were hard, but I started feeling better as I went.
When I rode today, my butt was sore from Thursday's ride, but I got used to it after a few miles. There's a longish rocky uphill about six miles in. I stopped at the very bottom because I forgot to downshift. But I backed up a little ways, restarted, and then made the hill without stopping. When I started riding out there, it took me many, many tries before I was finally successful at making it to the top without putting my foot down. I was happy that I was able to get that hill today.
Is anyone else having issues with this site not keeping them signed in? Annoying!!!

I have to sign back in every day or so. Is that what you're talking about?

I have to sign in every time I wake my computer. It just started doing this a couple weeks ago. Ugh.
I'm think I'm going to hike Piestewa on Monday. Not sure if I'll do #300 Summit or #302 Loop. I'm leaning toward the loop. I'll take some pics.

I haven't been there in 20+ years. (I don't like crowds.) Looking forward to your photos though...

That's one of the main reasons I don't hike there very often. I'm doing it for a change of pace. That's the same reason I rarely hike Camelback. It's just always busy. However, I will be hiking it in the next couple weeks. A guy I work with loves that hike, so we're going to do it. Cholla Trail.

I've always had to do that..
After some searching for a bow I drove to Ct. yesterday and bought one. I got a Hoyt Vector 29" draw, 65-75lb. It all ready to shoot. The guy teaches the hunter safety course for the state. He spent a solid hour teaching me to shoot. When u got home I got the biggest c*+k tease ever. A 10pt buck sat in my yard for two hours stalking a doe. Then a second buck showed up. Really?

Great pics ! The third pic from the left is his classic and has always been my favorite, he was a great guy.
Thats an awesome looking bow Moris, I've always fancied one of those unfortunatly the draw weight over here is pretty puny, and hunting with a bow is outlawed.

Would anyone have really known? Throw it in the freezer, then wait 'til the season starts and take it to your favorite butcher.

LOL, too many blokes running around in green tights for my liking.

I'm on a 80x100 lot. All my neighbors were taking pictures.
