Getting a 3/4 Sleeve Tattoo
I just got home from meeting with the artist, he is the same guy that did my brother's full sleeve and I really liked his work a lot. I took him some pictures that I found on the internet of what I really liked and of course he will be putting his own artistic twist on them so as to not copy another artists' work. He said he'd give me a call back in about two weeks because they're in the process of relocating their shop. I'm hoping to have at least the outline done by Spring Break (March 19th), and I'll be getting it on my left arm.
Here are two shots of my brother's tattoo after it was completely finished:

Meanings behind each:
The Crane - metaphorical representation of wisdom, fidelity, longevity, and fortune. when used in combination with the sun it represents social ambition.
Koi - good luck charm, when depicted swimming upstream against the current it is a symbolic representation of strength and courage because in life it takes a lot of guts to face the tide that fate has to unfold for you. It is also a symbol of independence.
Turtle - symbol of shelter, protection, and comfort. the shell of a turtle was also used for it's healing properties in Japan. It is also supposed to ward off bad luck and bring good fortune to the wearer.
I'm also gonna have some cherry blossoms sprinkled throughout and possibly a lotus flower as well.
