In and out burger
Well, after 1200 miles of driving I stumbled across this little nugget of joy somewhere close to San Diego (Yuma?). 2 days later and 4 repeat visits in various areas of southern Cali it feels like I've gained about 5 pounds. It wasn't until my 3rd visit that I learned about this epic secret menus with four by fours ... Animal style fries ...
Oh well ... So much for having a 6 pack when I touch down in Micronesia.
1200 miles down, 6000 to go

I have been to california once and a local reccomended In and Out. It was delicious..

how does it rival wendys and BK?
-
I dream of a day where I actually will get to try this place. You're probably an old pro by now, msM00b, but here's this for you or anyone else that isn't familiar with In-N-Out burger.

LOL there is absolutely no comparison.
none whatsoever.
only thing i could compare it to is five guys, except in n out patties are a bit thinner (yet half the price), buns are better at in n out, less toppings at in n out and the fries at in n out are better.
If you aren't local Google the secret menu or ask a local.
i lived .25 miles from in n out for 15 years prior to moving out to Colorado. i miss dis.

It pain's me to say this as I have long had a love affair with the whopper ... but BK isn't even in the same league (nor is wendys).
-
The best burger and the best fries I have ever tasted in my entire life

kicks the PISS out of them... its more like Red Robin (still better) for a better comparison.
-
Went to an in-n-out once whilst visiting California on a sports tour. There was a guy there who was eating his way through what looked like at least a 16 by 16!

its a sin to have fast food that good and not have one near me

Really upset I read this thread. I am so far away for In n Out yet my mouth has been watering for 10 solid minutes. And im fasting..
-
I truly feel sorry for you "out of town" folks! Being a SoCal, I have access to several In-And-Outs. I'd be happy to mail someone a Double-Double if you're really jone-ng!! I don't have cheat meals often, but when I do, this place is MUST "Go-To"!

Posting that picture just an hour before lunch is just plain evil. You're a cruel, cruel man.

5 guys burgers are the best "fast food" type burger IMO. In n out is good stuff though

I would challenge this. If you ever find yourself in Nagoya Japan I suggest you find a place called layers. The Layer is their signature burger and they wrap it in this kind of sleeve so you can smush it enough to take a bite without it falling apart. I have yet to eat a better Burger. I could barely fit the single in my mouth and I didn't get it with tomatoes either.

You guys that have these places in your area are lucky.
We have only BK/McD/Wendy's and Taco Bell.
The first three are basically the same.
How does In-n-out compare to say Sonic?
I remember visiting one of those the last time I was in Florida and it blew the crap around here right outta the water.
-
For a fast food burger chain it's f'n fantastic!
A double double and fries comes in right at 1000 calories, which you could easily be applied to IIFYM.
-
If you were here in CA m00bie, you will kick yourself for not trying Original Tommy's, and Bob's Big Boy. Oh and Pink's hot dogs. Seriously i would be fat again if i lived in socal lol
Oh Sonic still is number 1 in my book, we have an In-N-Out about three miles away that i partake every so often but prefer the caloric dense 5 guys to that.

Five Guys burgers well decent are wayyyy over priced. Like 8 bucks for a single with bacon and cheese. Add fries x2 and drink and over 20 plus dollars for me and the wife. I go there once a year, lol! I'd rather go to Jimmy Johns for some fantastic subs and with chips and a drink is 15 bucks and don't feel like crap afterwards....
With that said, I do miss eating burgers. I do Turkey Burgers now, well good, nothing to a good ole fashioned burger!
-
I had In and Out while in Vegas in Feb. (before cut) Gotta say, I wasn't impressed. Right now, I actually don't find burger meat all that tasty. Still eat in once in a while and the best around here is Red Robin. 5 guys is pricey and salty and their fries suck. I get the Lettuce Wrap your Burger w/cheese and veggies at Red Robin 482 calories 37P 32F(ouch) 9C. Easy IIFYM without sweating it.
-
Guess you can get it 100x100 as well.

I'm so glad I don't live near one of these. I've seen enough pictures to know it wouldn't end well for me. Animal style burgers look like heaven.
-
They are heaven indeed but sadly one of the things I need to avoid on my diet. Though I guess since I rarely get to the area in the place where I live where they are, maybe a single no cheese wouldn't hurt for a special meal after me and the kiddo go do something there.

Wing stop has freaking amazing fries

I havent had Tommy's in a long time, but In n Out is amazing. "Protein style" (wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun) is damn good too.

Bob Big Boy is next on my list. Went to Hodads in San Diego yesterday ... hard to imagine a better burger. In and out might be one of the best fast food burgers but the hodad bacon burger (as seen on foodnetwork) was out of this world.

Hey you are right in my neighborhood! Love In-N-Out but have not been there this year. Very tasty burger for fast food. If you happen to drive North on the 15 instead of the 5 when you get to Highway 76 go left and turn right at the mobile station as if you are going to Pala Mesa Resort. At the convenience store is a small hamburger stand called Nessy Burgers. It beats In-N-Out and unfortunately you'll have to stand in a line to get one. Haven't been there this year either. No wonder I weighed 281lbs lol...
