Who was the best bodybuilder of the 1970's (besides Arnold)?
Well Sergio Oliva is way up there as best ever so yeah... And although he didn't compete that much in the 70's he did and so yeah his clearly the best of the 70's without Arnold.
Frank Zane has more wins of cause during the 70's. But can he really beat Sergio?
Nubret.

Strong this.

Where's Serge? OP should be ashamed of himself...
Its between Serge and Sergio. Maybe Franco too, maybe.
Nubret for the win! One of the best from any era!
Did you ever Serge so hard you Nubret
Godly!

Damm!
Sergio then Serge. I think Sergio was the best in general anyway including Arnold.
Edit: Thread needs more pictures. Sergio ain't nothin' to mess with

(Arnold)
Serge Nubret.
Sergio Oliva
Franko Columbo
In that order for me.
In that pic with the beard serge said that was him before joe weider forced him to lose 12 pounds. If he had ended Arnolds run and took an O home with him on top of his other victorys, his legacy could be very different.
He is already my second favourite ever tho.
Interesting topic.
If there had never been an Arnold; Sergio would have been the best body builder the world had ever seen.
Until Ronnie.
The best bodybuilder of the 70s, besides Arnold, IMO would be Franco.
He was consistently in Arnolds shadow; figuratively and literally.
Serge
Sergio
Franco/Ferrigno Tie.
For top 3.
Big Lou is the man!

This x10!
I love Sergio, but he wasn't truly the best of the 1970's. too smooth. that's what Arnold changed! Zane is one of my faves and looks great, but I think Robby Robinson never got his due.

I don't think bodybuilding was around in the 1070s

I guess you could also say Sergio, but his were all prior to the 70s.
I would have to go with Franco personally. 1 Olympia title, 2 Under-200lbs titles, and a second place to Arnold in 73. Plus, I think he was physically better than Zane.
I always liked mentzers physique, thick and powerful looking, same with columbo to an extent.

I'm talking 70s only.
More photoshopped pics of Serge...
I think he is the most shopped classical bodybuilder.
