SALT vs. FAT LOSS
Other than some water retention, why is salt bad for fat loss? When it comes to losing weight, isn't it all about calorie consumption and expenditure? I've seen so many dieters eliminating salt completely out of their diet, but is that really necessary?

Does not affect fat loss at all. Just make sure you're drinking plenty of water.
-
Salt binds water which lets you weight more.
It doesnt affect fat loss at all, just your scale ;)

Couldn't agree more. Salt is neccesary to help keep you strong while losing fat. I always keep salt intake relatively high unless i'm just a few days out from a show. Thats the only time I cut out salt

It affects weight loss not fat loss. Everyone cares about the numbers on the scale, they should worry about the mirror.

Wut? When we say Weightloss we most obviously mean fatloss.... I'm sure nobody here is
1.looking into losing muscle
2.loosing overall bodyweight for things like fighting or anyother sport that requires overall weightloss.

I think his quote is quite appropriate given that some people who venture here don't have the knowledge that we take for granted.

I ate alot of salt when I lost weight. Love it.

I think generally foods that are higher in sodium are more in the unhealthy category (i.e. a cheeseburger would be higher than tuna or grilled chicken). SO maybe people are staying away from more unhealthy foods but its appearing that they are just avoiding sodium?

only reason to avoid sodium is if it effects your blood pressure negatively, and in most people it doesnt.
