On a side note, for those who noticed that the calories and macros don't add up, here's the message from their website:
Is the Arctic Zero calorie count off? How does one serving of a pint of “Chocolate” provide 32 calories per serving when it has 11 grams of carbs and 4 grams of protein?
We get the standard 4 calories per gram nutrition question several times a day. Per the FDA requiring us to do so, we have to list total carbs on the label regardless of whether they have an impact. In addition to our proprietary ingredients, we also utilize the patented Whey Low sweetener that has been on the market for more than a decade. Whey Low has 75% fewer calories than traditional sugar, and a 70-80% lower glycemic index.
It tastes delicious, so I'm wondering, is there a downside (besides the price)? And if any of you use arctic zero, what's your favorite flavor and at what temperature do you eat it? Any recipes?
Thanks!

Funny you made this thread.
I've just purchased the "Chocolate Peanut Butter" Flavor a few nights ago. 128 cals for the entire pint...
Mixed with Carob Chips and 1 tablespoon of Naturally more PB.
Delicious.
Tasted like a reeses peanut butter cup!

That looks DELICIOUS! My pack just arrived and it was rock hard, what consistency do you find works best? Should I let it cool for a bit or is it better eaten "hard"?
-
-
I never saw these before at a store, I want to buy some.
-
If you're going to get ice cream, get ice cream =/ This seems catered to people who have ED's IMO.

I love regular ice cream, I'm just curious to see how this tastes.

No shipping to Canada YO WTF!

It wasn't directed at you, but I can tell some people are already looking at this as a replacement.
-
Fake ice cream? I'd rather drink my own piss.

Yeah, I know.
I love Edy's and Breyers. Chocolate Ice Cream FTW.
-
Way expensive and it tastes horrible IMO. I'd rather have a banana, and that's coming from an avid ice cream enthusiast.
-
I can't see this could be worth almost $8 a pint when I can get Hagaan Daazs for $2.50. I'd rather eat HD less often enjoy it than eat frozen sugar alcohols and whey.

in response to the OP's question, got this off the website:

doesn't really answer anything...but it's possible i could be reading it wrong

i eat this ice cream all the time. im lactose intolerant so i love it! i get it at whole foods market! 3.99 a pint
-
How is this directed towards people with ED's? The way I see it, its great to add to a cutting diet (high protein, low carb/cal). Anyway, I finally had both chocolate peanut butter and maple vanilla. I found the maple vanilla to taste TERRIFIC. If only the peanut butter was a bit more accentuated, it would be great. They just came out with a new flavor, choco mint chip. Anyone tried it?

They don't use sugar alcohols, just "wheylow" (1 cal/gram).

Because people who restrict themselves/have an ED will see that the entire PINT is ~130 calories, and thus justify eating it in whatever quantity (binge etc). To most 'normal' people, sure if you want to see how it tastes, whatever - but this is no substitute for the real thing IMO. Just like sugar free syrups and everything else people label as 0/low cal and can consume in large volumes.
Edit; There's nothing wrong with the actual product, but in the wrong hands (like people who have already came clean with ED's - that may or may not be in this thread) it's dangerous.
-
You have a valid point. But I'm not bingeing on it. I'm simply "cheating" once a day by having a serving, rather than having two servings of regular ice cream once a week.

as someone who has had an ED, and is still having a hard time getting over it, this is exactly me
honestly when i saw the words ice cream and the nutrient profile that came with it, the first thing that came to mind was "wow i can eat all i want!"
Same thing with walden farms stuff and splenda
-
i am one who cannot stand anything walden farms or artificially sweetened in general but i just picked up the vanilla maple flavor today and this stuff is pretty dam good for the macro breakdown. obviously cannot compare with the real stuff but for someone like me who's lactose intolerant it works great. also with a protein shake makes for a pretty good post workout snack.
-
I'm a fan and I binge on it...
6,000 kcal Closet ED I guess.
All good.
-
maple vanilla is the only good flavor imo. and it needs mixins. i use cinnamon+splenda. tastes pretty good for the macros
-
Funny this thread was made...
Walked into a "Wild by Nature" this weekend and found some of this stuff, decided to give it a go.
Ate a pint of the Strawberry Banana (240cals) and a pint of Vanilla Maple (160cals).
Is it as good as real ice cream? Of course not. It reminded me of a cross between ice cream and sorbet. The first few spoonfuls weren't great, but the more I ate the more I enjoyed it. It tasted better with every bite. I loved it.
You know how free food always tastes better than food you pay for? I think that may have something to do with it. 150-200 calories for a whole pint is like FREE FOOD. If it had 1200 calories, it would be vile. At 200 calories, it tasted pretty f*ckin awesome.
This is not a replacement for someone who can afford the calories to eat ice cream. These are the people who are going to give it bad reviews, say it tastes like p*ss, etc. This is something to satisfy that sweet tooth or ice cream craving for someone who can't afford the calories....like someone 8 weeks out from his show :)
The macros did not jive with the calories shown on the front, though. The Strawberry Banana actually had 240 calories based on the macros on the label, not 136.

im pretty i googled this once and the carbs in it arent 4 cals each, if thats how you came to the 240 calories you calculated. they use a sweetener that's technically carbs (similar to the way the macros of sobe life water work) but each gram =/= 4 cals

disgusting
eat real ice cream or don't

For the first time ever, I totally agree with you. I made this thread over a year ago, and since then I have discovered the horror that is arctic zero
-
Why is it a horror? The company set out to make a product that was all natural, 16 grams of WPC, fat free, gluten free, lactose intolerant friendly, low glycemic, all with no junk or artificial crap. Again why is it a horror?
I take it with your 4 posts that you work for them? You're really taking it that personally? Why is it a horror? Taste.

Shill much? Your only 4 posts are ardently supporting arctic zero. Either demonstrate your affiliation or GTFO.
-
Lol. Strong Arctic Zero representative up in here.
Haven't tried it. Looks nasty, and I'm not even a fan of ice cream to begin with anyway.

^^ FTW. Folks, this is really a great example of how you can fit something that tastes great into your macros as opposed to spending a ton of money to eat something that tastes so-so.
