Never done them before. Are 2 mins good?
Nah, most people can do 2 minutes easy.
Never done them before. Are 2 mins good?
If you have never done them before you need to start a 20 secs and go up day by day till you reach 1 minute then stop. you will be injured

Do you purposely go on threads with this kind of advice? 1 minute can be done by most beginners. 20 seconds is laughable.

"you're"
With more life experience you'll notice the difference between "your" and "you're."
I can plank in my bed all night
I'd say about 8ft (2x4) is a good length.
most people can do 2 minutes because they don't have a good form
it's possible to the plank and feel nothing in your abs so that you can go on for 10 minutes
the problem is tight hip flexor that takes over the abdominal work
when they try to plank with their legs bent taking the hip flexors out of the equation most people can't last more than 40 seconds before the burning sensation becomes unbereable. So they need to build up from there.
I would do 1 minute, and then start adding weight.
Seems to make most sense for carry over purposes (e.g holding a barbell for a front squat or back squat)
2min prone, 90 second side.
if you can do that i'd say youve got enough 'core' strength to not be classified as deconditioned.
PE at our school every year has a fitness test, which includes planks aka bridges. Full marks = a 5 minute plank. Granted not everyone can do that, but I've been able to do 5 minutes each year, to be honest and this is more or less my opinion but sheer will power will keep you up there. Having a strong core damn well helps but when you go 5min + the brain certainly helps :)

I can do 5min. shaking though.

depends on what your using it for,
to strenghten your core, i'd say nailing 2x2s on ur stomach all the way around would work better. Around 50cm in lenght.

Perfect plank:

go to failure so as long as you can hold it for. there's not a set time which is 'good'. some people can go for 4 mins, others half that time, depends on your core fitness.
Yes, 2 minutes is damn good for someone who has never done them before.
I maxed out last summer at 5:57 and couldn't drag my arse out of the bed the next day.
I stopped doing them, though, I don't find them very helpful.

hahahah im not gonna lie, that just made my day so far haha
Wouldnt it be better to add weight and keep it around a minute then to just hold it for longer?
