Thats 420lbs. Typically at the store you can get them at about $1 a pound. He is selling at .71 cents a pound. Ive seen dumbbells sell on craigslist for .50 cents a pound often (depending on location). You could take your time and build a set as good deals come available or try negotiating with him.
Dick's Sporting Goods has 'em at .88 cents/lb. so .71cents is no bargain. I agree on looking through CL if he won't take around $200.
Someone will make a killing on those!
I'm not too sure about that, the bids already at $20,000 which is almost $2,000 a setup and there are still over 9 days left.
Just bought a set of powerblock sport 3-24lb for no damn reason! They were 50 bucks. I gotta stop lookin on cl!!! Maybe my girl will use them since i got the 90 pound sports last week on the chicago craigslist. I still cant post links

what's a good price for a used no-name oly bar these days?
I'm looking to get one as a warmup/beater bar but I'm not sure what prices to look for on CL
thanks

$15 or $20 is the most I would pay. People try to sell them for $50 or $75 but you can usually get a whole $300 set on sale for $160 or so. So you could buy new, keep the bar and sell the plates for .50/lb if you wanted to do that.
I can sell any old Oly barbell all day long for $40.
ffink is right though, you can usually pick one up virtually free if you get a full set of plates. Sometimes I get a spare with a bench to flip as well.
I'd pay $50+ if it was something better than typical China crap with hex bolts on the ends, though.
You can always put up an "Items wanted" listing and name your price.
thanks guys

If I could get $700 for mine, it would be gone! I paid $165 for my Super Pullover (online auction) plus 6 hour drive, round trip.
Long time lurker, first time poster... can anyone tell me what you think about this package:
link: austin.craigslist.org/spo/2942903266.html
The rack is the 2x2 EliteFTS basic.
All i need is the rack, but he is including 600 pounds of plates, and a flat bench for $800
Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Depends on your goals. If you compete in strength sports, grab it. One of the best racks you'll find. Just casual lifting, its a bit expensive. I have a rack with the same hole spacing and it rocks.

They don't have the 2x2 anymore, I do not think. Closest thing they still make is the 3x3 old school rack which is $600 and that looks a lot like their old school flat bench, which is $179. Now this rack has better (more) hold spacing and the band pegs which would make it more than the $600 base price of the 3x3.
Figure you're paying about new prices but no shipping and getting 600lbs of weight for free - figure $300 for those weights, although if he paid for an EliteFTS rack, his weights are probably not crap.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am by no means going to compete, but I prefer to buy equipment once and be done with it. I am mainly comparing it to the Texas Strength System rack that i can get in san antonio for about 1000 (which was the one I had planned to get), but with the whole package this seemed like a good deal once I flip the plates.

yea if you flip the plates at $0.50/lb - you're looking for an Elite rack and bench (most likely) for $500 - that's a very good price for quality equipment.

Thanks for your help on pricing the package.
I talked to the seller and he confirmed that the bench is an elite as well. The plates are nothing special (he says most are ironman and some weilder). The rack I am pretty sure is this one (without the plate storage):
link: flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?cid=167&m=CT&aid=681
I think I am going to bite on this one. I THINK I sent reps for you and Iceman (forgive me I'm a newb).

Before you bite on the rack, think about making an offer for the GHR bench too. Maybe you can get everything for a nice discount. Can't hurt to ask!

normally that would be a wise plan, however I am still on the recovery of a major back injury and I have a very short list of approved exercises. Anything that extends my spine aggravates my back pretty bad (I have a very unique type of disc herniation... lucky me). I am basically reduced to lat pulldowns/deadlifts/squats/presses/BP. Thanks for the suggestion though.

There's not really much else you need to do.

you know for sure that's a Hoist? I have not personal experience but if I remember correctly, Hoist is a very well though of manufacturer and $80 for an adjustable bench is a good deal.
Found this. Might be useful for the single bodybuilders here. haha.

It looks like that would be worth $80, but if you can't get a model number to verify the rated weight tolerance you are taking a gamble.
I don't know how much you can bench or how much you weigh, so this might not even matter to you.
Craigslist Gaffney SC. Limestone College. 4 York racks $300 each, 3 Legend dual half racks $300 each, 6 York benches $100 each. white fames and blue pads.
Alright, for all you Craigslist scavengers is it worth $550?
