as long as you want :confused:
it depends on what ur goal is, set a weight that u would like to get up to and bulk up untill u reach that goal, same for cutting. setting goals will allow u plan out what u want to accomplish and how long it will take.
As long as it takes for you to put on the weight and muscle you want...
Basically I have four months in which to complete a bulk/cut cycle before I leave for South America. By then I want to be as cut and fit as possible. Should I just do two months of each? or a month of bulking and one of cutting?
Well I'm permanently bulking at the moment, but once I start competing I'm going to cut for 12 weeks before contest season and buk the rest of the year, it's up to you.

Well, I started lifting three years ago, and I've been bulking now for around three years. Can't be f[i][/i]ucked cutting - eating anything you want and bulking is far easier than trying to cut when you have the dedication I do :D
Until you feel your to fat and need to cut. I bulked for over a year.
layne norton and other people from avant bulk for 4 weeks and cut for 2 and have gotten great results...after I'm donde qutting I'll be doing that plan

As simple as that..
IMO, for sure you should be trying to gain as little fat as possible when you bulk, but chances are good that if you don't gain some fat you're not gaining muscle as fast as you could.
Remember also that short-term cuts work very well.
I do about 2 weeks of cut every about 3 months or so.

You should do either one until you feel that you are big or ripped enough, then do the other. Dont put a limit on it.
