what is protein powder made out of
is protein powder such as Prorated whey made out of meat or soy or eggs ? how do they "squeeze" the protein out of the raw material and compress them into powder form ? also what do they do with the leftover of the raw materials ? everytime I take a whey protein drink I've always wondered how do they pack so much protein into a little scoop......

Chicken, beef, etc. is only about 22% protein by weight because it contains,
- fat
- humidity/water
- minerals
- ash
etc.
These take quite some volume and weight - hence the lower percentage of protein in animal flesh, eggs etc.
Protein powder is protein isolated from most of these nutrients via filtering/chemical processes. It can hence yield between 60-90+ % protein by weight.
i.e. a small 25g scoop of powder would be about 21g of protein.
