Dug. Lots of things too hard to post about. I need outside help to deal with them.
No need to post here, but do do something about it.
If you don't deal with IT, IT will continue to deal with you.
I have gone for 'help' outside the rooms of AA countless times. In fact, just recently. No shame in that.

Hello. I am going to put in for a transfer to another program at work...one less stressful and yet utilizes my training more. I have worked for close to ten years in the same place and it is burning me out. On a regular basis there are fights to break up, lots of volatile men on booze and the success rate is very low. All I know is I need a change. This is not a solution for everything but just one step of many in the right direction.

Since April 1, 1990. One day at a time.
All I wanted was to not sit in jail any more. Been given so much more than that!
tell him
"I need a referral to take with me when I leave."
I spoke with a friend at work and he reminded me with have and EAP (Employee assistance Program) which gives us session with a therapist paid by the city. I am going to set up and appointment today. It is for up to ten session I understand and they refer me to someone else after if needed paid for by the city :). Another support set up is just what I need.
I have a question brahs
Sometimes when I lift right when it gets real tough during my lift I can literally taste alcohol in my mouth while i'm lifting and it sometimes distracts the sh*t out of me.
What does this mean brahs
its psychological... I have seen threads on other boards (rehab boards) like "Do you always smell your DOC?" and the answer is people do a lot in the weirdest places.

My job gives me 6 free sessions with a therapist. However, I am apprehensive to use this service because I feel like it will be logged down somehow and either my employer will find out or the health insurance company will find out.

No Hippa expert, but you should have a right to privacy.

It’s called confidentiality and it’s the law.
They can’t tell anyone you are accessing their services without signed consent from you.

It is confidentiality based. And it is law, Breaking confidentiality without client consent can cost the therapist their job etc. Unless of course the client has a plan of action to harm themself or another. Social worker here.

Day 6. I called an outpatient clinic for a therapist and reminded my doctor to send them a fax referral. Also I am looking at another place closer to home. Don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Plus with two referrals I have a chance of getting in faster to one or the other.

Day 7. Sleep has been tough. Not sure if I should see my doctor for a knock out pill. 4 day weekend coming up so maybe I can white knuckle the tiredness until then. Where is everyone this is starting to feel like my own personal blog lol.

You need a lot of support during this time. I don't remember if you attend AA or not, but at this point it should help a great deal to make as many meetings and check in with a sponsor daily. This will keep you busy and will help you stay out of your head :).
As for sleep difficulties, it is very common and should get better day after day. I can only say that personally for me it is important that I not take anything mood altering. Not worth the risk, to me. Maybe look into some OTC melatonin or other drugs approved for "us" people.
Yeah, I agree, where is everybody??

Never really thought it could be a trigger. I think my anxiety/worries are high now. Making some big transitions and such. I will see how things go over the weekend. And planning to consult with my GP for his advice on Saturday. Thanks.

I do melatonin but it only helps a little bit. Thanks for your input :)

There is a reason why they suggest no major changes your first year. You don't need the added pressure right now. Of course, timing of change is inevitable sometimes. I got divorced my first year. My ex was still in the thick of using and I needed a better environment.

The other one is getting a therapist and actually opening up. I feel ripe for this. Never felt like this ever. I hear you on your divorce. Sorry things did not work out.

I agree that having a group of people to help you through is invaluable.

Can't beat a good AA group.
Stay strong Forge.

Yes I am planning on really looking into AA meeting (SRS). Maybe not everyday but see how it goes. I imagine going to some is better than none.

Day 8. Sleep was just a bit better. Going to see my doctor on Saturday to check up on the referral and get one to another place. Also going to try and find the nearest AA meetings in my area. For some reason if I have far to travel I am less likely to go. No car and I am a home body. The last thing I want to do is get complacent though. That can be my nemesis in recovery.

I see you live in Toronto.
Here's the AA meeting list. http://www.aatoronto.org/webapp/app/webroot/index.php/meetings
Call and someone will pick you up. It's what we do :).
Getting different results is all about doing things differently, whether in our comfort zone or not.

Hey that is cool. Thanks a lot for that. Yes I am definitely moving out of my comfort zone. Sometimes always trying to find the comfort state can lead to becoming comfortably numb.
