I started when I turned 14.
I'd say any age is fine as long as your doing it right.
I "started" when I was about to turn 14. I started this January.
I'd say any age should be old enough provided they are mature enough to not **** around/act silly with weights.
I started at 16 years old, but I wish I had started when I was 13 or 14. 11 years old is probably fine but make sure you teach him proper form in compounds.
OP, feel free to bring him but make sure his form is PERFECT. Make him use light-weights on all of the exercises. The person whom I used to workout with brought his son (age 11) along and he is getting huge results now. He's almost 13 now and he is getting huge man. I wish I would have started at an earlier age. But remember, his form must be perfect.

I'm already 16, i just started, half way through my second week, i have quite a few friends there too though, i'm 13.5 % body fat and 150 pounds and 6'0" going to get down to 10% body fat and get muscle strength up,
I haven't been doing any special thing like starter strength or anything.
just been going and using the different equipment and doing a 5 day split.
I started mucking around in gym at 14 but seriously lifting at 15-16 yes 11 is fine just make sure everything is done properly
Its about maturity. a 5lb weight dropped on your toe because he was messing around=broken toe. As long as he has a good head on his shoulders he should be good 2 go.
Thanks a lot everyone, it's all much appreciated.
Started at 14. 2 years of lifting when no one else really did from my school gave me a huge advantage.
Y is OP banned?
its healthier to start around the ages 13 and 14, when kids begin to mature and go through puberty. its safer and better for the kid
My son will do his first pushups when he's 6 or 7.
11 is great.
Only caveat is that he must train only when you are there.

i started 15 lol guys idk would you cry or laugh if you saw my training back then. i benched, then pushups, then dumbbells if i felt like lol crazy ****
sure let your brother join you, why not? i suggest increasing his core strength before anything though. dont just put him under a bar and say go. put a big emphasis on form, teach him the main compounds and make sure hes doing everything right.
by increase his core strength i mean this: before he starts doing squats, deadlifts, bench, etc, get him doing leg press, hyperextensions, crunches, push ups etc

this....
core strength is huge.
Keeping your back straight, chest out and head up is kind of hard when you got a chitty core.
Any age if you do it right, proper nutrition and exercise isn't going to hurt anyone.
I wouldnt do weights heavier than 3kg when your bro is 11. Get him work on body weight such as pushups, chinups etc. That will put him in the right zone when he starts training heavier at 14 ish
14 is right age to start bodybuilding im 14 and ive got 8 packs my height was 3.5 but now it 5.2
Im dead^^^
I started exercising at 11, but got into real weight training at 13. Im 14 now.

Can anyone testify that it doesn't actually affect height? Someone who's been lifting since, say, 13-14 until 18+. I was reluctant to start before 18, lawlz. Seeing as I peaked at the end of 15, would've been great to start a few years ahead. High school would've been a ton more fun.
Started at 16. Any age is fine. You just have to make sure that your little brother is lifting correctly and wont goof off with the weights.

The only evidence I've seen of any sport possibly stunting your height is gymnastics, and that's not because of the movements, but because it involves 25+ hours a week of intense effort before puberty.
my 6yr old bro wants to start lifting......any1 know if this is to young? he tries and takes it srsly.....doesnt bullchit around when i take him to gym...but want to start him with calisthetics
