Get those starving muscles some quick help....
i have a shake and some oats after my workout in the morning
before i go i have a NO supp such as NO SHotGun
I like OJ + whey right when I get up.. then some coffee and a solid breakfast
Sometimes i'll have proatmeal with 2 whole eggs + 4 egg whites. Or I'll have 1 WW bread with 2Tbsp PB + sprinkle of cinnamon with 2 whole eggs + 4 egg whites.
yeah, 1st thing in the morning, whey protein shake.
your muscles arent starving when u wake up....eat some solid food and forget those stupid protein shakes
I drink some whey and eat some grapes as soon as i wake up and then get ready for work and then eat a real breakfast.
proatmeal in the morning.
Oatmeal half milk half water, 1 scoop whey half milk half water, half a carton of egg whites, 1 or 2 full eggs, then my multi, caffeine, flax seed pill, omega 3-6-9, maybe some arginine.
Solid for me.
What on earth is proatmeal ?

3 packets of maple and brown sugar oatmeal mixed with 2 scoops of chocolate whey protein which = heaven on earth

I hear ya
will give it a go tomorrow too.....
There is no reason to go out of your way and seek out "simple" carbs (which I assume you are referring to high GI carbs) just because it is your first meal of the day. Same with post workout - no need to seek out high GI carbs. Oatmeal would be a fine carb choice for either meal.
more like the starving broscience muscles.

Grapes!? Judging by your pictures, all those carbs are making you fat.
if you're working out first thing in the morning then yes have a shake afterwards
Frozen no sugar added mixed berries, two scoops of vanilla protein, and some water. In the blender and mix it up.
Half a bagel with cream cheese. Darn good start to the day.

This.
Unless you eat like an anorexic girl, in most cases your body isn't "starving" when you wake up. Sure, the body's in a more catabolic state compared to say the night before when you've got x good meals in you, but the body itself is still working it's way through your (hopefully) high caloric diet.
To answer the OP, i do eggs + oats (blended, then cooked as protein pancakes) for Meal 1's when i don't have to go train an early client/s, and i do whey + oats (blended) for when i do have to do early morning sessions. Purely for convinience. I prefer food whenever physically possible. I just save whey for after gym, that's it.
As someone said above - forget the protein shakes in the morning.
Eat solid food - oatmeal with eggs is by far the best choice. If you care about protein shake in the morning, put 1-2 scoops in the oatmeal, but don't forget the eggs.
I drink a protein shake right when I wake up, but I am also working on cutting weight... so I don't have a high calorie diet for my body to work on during the night.
Im definately going to try this 'proatmeal' idea.
Just doesnt feel right, I need some solid food in the morning.
Protein pancakes?? You actually just got me excited for tomorrow morning...

You could also just make regular pancakes and add protein powder to the batter along with whatever goodies you want like flax, oatmeal, etc.
LOL some of you guys need to visit the 'Nutrition' forums here,.. I've seen proatmeal, pancakes, and even brownie/cupcake protein recipes.
I'm all about solid food too, although on Fridays I do start with a protein shake early morning, then eat more 2 hours later. For the most part of the work week when I wake up, I first have 2 scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, 100% whole wheat bread w/olive oil butter and 2 cups of skim milk w/fat free chocolate syrup. It's a power packed start to the day! Then, I follow up with a mid morning protein shake to keep the protein charge going.

Does protein powder go bad when you cook it or fry in a pan?
is it all right to have a shake in the morning (shake mixed with protein powder, oatmeal, peanut butter and eggs) cause im not a morning person and im ALWAYS starvin at night but never in the morning so i thought a shake would be easy to get some calories into my bitch body ahha
