My ground beef says sell by 7/7 but today I opened my fridge and the ground beef is brown... no longer red. I just ate some anyway.

Since you've already eaten it, you'll know its bad if you feel terrible and/or spray paint the Doulton in about 20 minutes.
the dates are usually the sell by dates, not eat by dates. Since it is the 6th, I bet it is ok
7/7 was a month ago.
brown beef doesn't mean its "bad" necessarily, even if you leave ground beef out for a little you'll see a change in color due to oxidation.
however... 7/7 is kind of a while ago though..... beef does NOT last that long in the fridge.

Get ownt.
You know it has gone bad when it starts to punch grannies in the face or robs banks!
...
No, honestly: ground meat is something you really do not want to eat after the expiration date, and though I am not a fan of wasting food: throw it away next time.
OP has not yet responded as he's glued to the dunny.
That's disgusting, a month past the expiration date? Doesn't matter if it was the sell-by or the eat-by.
I really hope you've had it in the freezer for the past month.
8/7 my bad lmao.
i would hope its 8/7 ! it should be fine if it gets a little brown, but if it starts to have a smell, then i wouldnt eat it
as long as you cooked it fairly well id assume its still good
