I cant do walking lunges at my gym due to lack of space, so I have been doing stationary ones for now. I was looking at videos of split squats and it looks like the same thing. Any major differences between these two?

Lunges = you take a step forward, lower your body, come back up and then return to your neutral position.
Split-squats = you take a step forward and continue doing your reps without returning to your neutral position.

guess i do splits. alot then ... gym is not spaced good enough
they arent as effective, but they do the job.
So what is the difference in the muscles being worked between the 2?

^ What he said. Split squats, you only return to the feet together position at the end.
Not sure abuot all teh differences in muscles being worked. I'm sure stabilizers are the biggest difference. More coordination to step out and back each time.

Lunges are slightly harder to do than split-squats. Uses more stabilizers and works your core harder.
Both work the same leg muscles though.

well its the full range of motion.
think about it, when you go all the way down and then you go back to the beginning you are hitting tons of muscles and ones that you would on the backwards step.
although it doesnt seem like much, those muscles get hit hard and you will feel it
