According to everyone I come in contact with (by that I mean adults/parents that do not work out) I should not be eating more than 1-2 a day.

As long as it fits into your overall macros for the day, eat as many as you want. Put them in your oatmeal in the morning, replenish liver glycogen and spike insulin post-workout, heck, peel one and put some natty PB on it for mega-cals on a bulk.
during the sports season i averaged 3.

break off bite size banana piece, and just plop on some PB with a knife and eat. then repeat till gone.

I've heard you shouldn't be eating any more than 2 but i have probably 2-3 a day, sometimes breakfast and always after workout

I does this.
I eat 3 everyday. They don't affect me in a negative way at all and are good for carbs and calories. I heart banana sandwiches :)
3 a day,
5 on workout days for preworkout carbs for energy.
1-2 a day.
One with my yogurt in the morning, and one at work.
