I've never used a PT, just wondering if you get tipped by people??
no tips but sometimes gifts.
i wouldnt expect a tip i already charge enough.
Xmas is a nice time....The average tip (according to magazines) is the price of one session. I have clients that treat me very well during the holidays
Ive never gotten tips, but I have gotten gifts for no reason & on holidays. People can be very generous if you treat them well!

yep.. that's true.. one of my best clients just for no particular reason or occasion gave me a thank you card and a $100 bill.
another time, in the middle of a session I had mentioned that afterwards I was going to buy some lifting shoes and though I preferred Chucks, I was going to get some knock offs from Payless Shoes so I could save a few bucks... anyway, after her session on her way out of the lockerroom she gives me a $20 bill and says, "Here ya go, now you can get the real ones"
good stuff.
Ipods,computers,tons of cash,cds. Yep........good times
Christmas bonuses every year by 99% of clients
I do get birthday gifts/cards from a couple of my close clients
Never have been tipped with cash but I have gotten invited to a client's house for dinner, some clients have brought me healthy meals they have cooked.
it is not a tip, just buying some supplements from him so I help him to earn some cash
If you do a google search on tipping ettiquette, you'll find which professions a gratuity is customary/expected, and about how much is customary.
It is NOT customary to tip PTs. Although, a client can tip anyone he or she chooses, and any recipient can accept. It IS considered in extremely bad taste for those in non-tipped professions to accept cash gratuities of any sort. Gifts are a different story.
When i have done free fitness assessments for people they occasionally give me $20 or so but never for actual PT sessions. Gift certificates seem to be pretty common bonuses from clients.

It depends on the relationship between the trainer and the client. I've received tips and gifts over the years, but usually fron clients who've been with me a while and train often. These are the people with whom I've developed a relationship over time. I've received gift cards, dinners, concerts or sporting event tickets, cash, and treats. I never expect it and it's always a nice gesture. I usually give gifts to my good clients as well, usually something healthy like bars, shakes, or a free session or two.
I've been tipped in the past esp if it is a spur of the moment "Im in town for the day and need a workout" kind of thing. Other than that its not something that happens often

I've been offered tips, in the past. I'd refuse those if I were you. It is nice to have clients with season tickets that they never use. In my case, having clients who own various businesses came in handy when opening my own gym.
