What should it be? Like for a 20 minute session...should I get my heart rate right up to a certain point in the beginning and then maintain it, or work my way up to a certain bpm? Any input is appreciated.

If you're asking about HIIT, it's an individual thing depending on the person's age and fitness level . My routine is to get my heart rate up to 130-135 bpm for 5 minutes and then go high intensity for 1 minute to get my heart rate up to 155+ bpm. I then back down to 130-135 bpm for 5 minutes to recover and then go high intensity again. I do this for 30-35 minutes.
Nah I was referring to medium intensity cardio, so I guess some middle ground between low intensity cardio and HIIT, I was just wondering what a good target heart rate is if I am doing a 20 minute session
bump
220 - (your age), then 60 to 80% of that number.
Depends on what you are doing - trying to do cardio or lose fat.
Keto diets alway tell you to do 120 bpm for 20+ minutes (I do it for 45 minutes)
vs
HIIT is like stated
vs
Cardio is 20+minutes at 155 bpm
What are you trying to achieve?
anything between 65 to 85 % maximum heart rate. less than 65% is light, more than 85% is intense.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Is HIIT like 90% of your max heart rate?
