go to a welder and u can get one made for 25$
i would go with a parachute because u build up momentum with a sled and it defeats the purpose
weight sled is good for training your drive off the line
Used to do both, and weight sled was definitely alot better.
the problem with the parachute is that there is an uneven resistance

I'd go with the sled. Or use a vest to run stadiums and such with.

id go with sled, parachutes just screws up running pattern because of uneven resistance

I would definitely go with a sled. I have both a parachute and sled and the sled is by far the best to use. When u run with the chute it kind of moves around and can pull u sideways a little and like the guys above me said about the uneven resistance with the parachute.
Plus i think i read on joe defranco's site that running with the sled creates the correct forward lean for sprinting or something like that.

I'd go with both.. well, because that's what I did! haha.. so far I've only used the sled.. plan to use the chute next week.. I did a few runs uphill in the grass.. both will help you work on your explosive power but if the wind's blowing the wrong way the chute will be annoying to work with. Might want to think about investing in a weighted vest too.
Never use a chute. uneven resistance. Dont use either. Sled is for strength. If you want explosiveness do weight training exercises.
i've got a speed chute and i like it... ya, it gives uneven resistance, but it makes me more aware of everything. i like how it changes direction. it makes me react and change how i run. in real life situations, you will never have a straight path. there's always obstacles and you'll always be changing directions. so because of this, i prefer the chute.
i want to get a weight vest and do some sprints with that as well.
but to increase explosiveness, plyometrics is the way to go. maybe once every two weeks would be good. they shock your body like nothing else....

Good point.. and with playing football you're going to have to change the direction you push in all the time

Um... there are smaller sleds that are specifically for speed. But yeah weight training can help build explosive power also.. especially if you throw chains into the mix
Weight vest > Sled and parachute
runs hill with a sled/parachute/weight vest/weight belt/ankle weights/ wrist weights
jk but running hills are great for explosive power.

Agreed.. I just did some sled pushes uphill and then some box pistols with a weighted vest
