Looking for a personal trainer

Here my story-> as a Baby I had a heart transplant, and I also have a bad leg from a car crash a few years back where I broke my tibia and femur in my right leg have two metal rods there now I know some people might think oh this is a joke I'm not trying to make it one I want to do bodybuilding, but I can't take supplements because of the effects it can have on my heart, and I can't drink whey because it be too much protein for my heart and body. These are doctor's orders.

So I'm 19 5 ft 1 94.7 pounds I'm currently trying to gain weight about 15 to 20 pound doctors orders.

I did Insanity and lost too much weight I'm trying to get up to 5 to seven meals in every day with healthy snacks in between, I'm currently doing P90X, and I'm gaining some muscle it is not just a cardio program like people thinks it is I'm cutting some cardio.

I eat healthy drink 8 to 10 bottles per day.



I want to get big should I go to my doctor first? I have medium-size weights at home only two and two small ones I have a pull-up bar to.

I don't have a gym membership and only have three small gyms in my small town.

The biggest one is anytime fitness.

I dont think your joking at all. Supplements are not needed at all inorder to change body composition. It sounds like you are starting from scratch with weights and your nutritional knowledge. I would first suggest you go and read the stickies in the nutrition section as for nutrition will be the main factor in whether you gain or lose weight. After that I recommend you start a proven program such as starting strength or get with a qualified personal trainer at your local gym...you can do this but it's going to take some effort in learning on your part. Nutrition is key my friend. it's the sail to your ship! ;)

You should absolutely go to a Dr. first. It's hard to get personal training advice from online when you have so many different medical conditions and limitations.

A doctor will be able to provide you with a ton of information that all of us (including yourself) should and WOULD need to know before you start a new exercise program. Things like any limitations as far as heart rate is concerned, how hard you can be pushed, movements that you should avoid and/or never perform under any circumstances, exercises that would be beneficial as far as rehabilitation or strengthening a particular muscle or muscle group.

Honestly, If you are serious, I would meet with both your doctor, as well as a few trainers from around your area and discuss the situation with them, ask about their experiences and credentials, and see what they suggest. I like to have an open line of communication with any chiropractors, GP's, nutritionalists/dieticians, massage therapists or any other specialist that is working with my client as well.

This is something you are going to have to in person, and I would seriously recommend working with and being supervised by a professional.

I would suggest compound movements of the upper body to failure, lighter isolation exercise for your legs (still to failure). Just a little bit of care not to put a great deal of force on your leg would be the only alteration I can see. I think your doctor may just be being pedantic with that whey protein remark but it isnt necessary to build mass anyway. But the guy above me is right, nutrition is key first. And better safe then sorry so talk to your doctor.
