is 6 days a week back to back too much?
4-5.
6 days on is probably overdoing it. I dont think major muscle groups 3 days in a row is much good. You could get away with chest, back, arms on consecutive days but not chest, back, legs.
I think 2 days then a rest day is good. You dont have to be hitting the same muscle the same day every week.
3 day routine for me...Tues, thurs, fri.

my cousin has me working out 6 days a week back to back, then the 7th day off
it goes...
shoulders and biceps
chest and triceps
legs and back
then repeat
is this optimal?

Do something more like:
Monday - chest/tris/shoulder (push day basically)
Wednesday - back/bi's/traps (pull day)
Friday - Legs
Feel free to throw in something like forearms or abs in one of those days.
i do 3 days :)
Tuesday, Friday and Sunday
Back and legs on the same day is never optimal.
I suggest:
Legs
Upper-back(Lats+Traps) and Shoulders
Rest
Arms (Biceps+Triceps) and Deadlifts
Rest
Chest
Rest or repeat
I do four days
Monday-Chest
Tuesday- Legs
Wednesday- Arms
Frriday- Back and shoulders

OP everyone is different.
'tards are gonna say:
'oh well you should be on a 3/4/5 day split , otherwise you will overtrain.
I say that (altho somewhat it could be true) you are the only one to decide and know if you are actually overtraining or not.
Just go out there and see what happens, if you think you can handle it (which i am SURE you can , if you watch your diet and get some extra sleep plus we are teens celular activity is like 5x than 25+yos) then keep on doing it, if not then change it up.

OP you can tain 6 Days a week. Eat enough and look into foam rolling.
IMO take a day off after every 3 days in a row. But Its fine how you're doin it

naw you're fine with 6 days a week if you feel your body can ahndle it. just make sure you eat properly and get enough sleep. i was doing 7 days a week before but then switched over to 6 days when i found that i responded better with one day off. right now my split is...
legs
chest/little triceps
back/little biceps
shoulders/traps
legs
arms
HIIT
repeat
been seeing awesome results on this. abs are done a lil bit everyday aswell. it really is just understanding your own body though and figuring out how it responds best. good luck OP
Day 1: Chest/Bi
Day 2: Rest
Day 3: Delt/Trap
Day 4: Legs/Tri
Day 5: Rest
Day 6: Rest (Or abdominals if applicable)
Day 7: Rest (Or abdominals if applicable)
Monday - arms
Tuesday Legs
Wednesday - Back
Thursday - Rest
Friday - Shoulders/Traps
Saturday - Chest
volume is a bigger factor that dictates overtraining, not how many days you workout.
1: Back
2: Chest/Abs
3: REST
4: Bi's/Tri's
5: Shoulders/Abs
6: Legs
7: HIIT
nothing wrong with 6 days a week.
i do 4 days

what is the purpose of working out 6 days a week? You can easily hit all the muscle groups properly going 5 days. I workout all the weekdays and rest on the weekend. Heres my spit:
Mon: Chest
Tues: Back
Wed: Legs
Thur: Shoulders/Abs
Fri: Arms
Sat: Rest
Sun: Rest
i would say 3-5 days is desirable
have you been lifting for long? if not you are going to wear yourself out really really quickly
