squats should be everyones best lift.. but being tall its harder then someone with shorter legs
squats should be everyones best lift.. but being tall its harder then someone with shorter legs
Squats are brutal with being tall. Buddy went to gym with me yesterday to get me to work on lifting vs cardio. Was showing me proper forms on most equipment. Found squats to be the hardest , feeling thighs and calves today from them. But feels great sign of good workout.
6'3" 253 signing in. I have read 14 pages of the same thing I've been aggravated with... Damn! Power is not the issue. Gaining mass and clothes are the issue.... Keep this thread rolling, I'm learning a lot.

6' 5" here. I wouldn't call myself a bodybuilder though. I have a long way to go.
Squats have always been my strongest lift, and bench my weakest. I've been playing around with my form and watching lots of videos. My bench is finally moving up.
KingSizeDirect.com
Clothes for tall people.

I still outsquat my gym buddy who's about 5'6, somehow.. Most of his other lifts are on par though.
Do anyone else struggle with deadlifts and keeping a straight back? I was reading about how tall guys should adopt a "sumo" stance for deads to get the knees out of the way.

I am beginning to work on strength trainin very recently. DL and keeping a straight back, is definately difficult. I keep trying to lift with my back. Trainer has me doing light weights with DL and squats till I can improve my form. From there I'll start adding the weight.

tall guys always get problems with there lower back I find
tall guys always get problems with there lower back I find
it's because we have a larger range of motion, the best fix for it is doing sumo stance deads with a straight back, when i pull geared is the onlytime i do this due to the extra pressure on my back than my normal conventional
6'5" 230 here! Working on my way down to 200 to get lean and then begin to bulk. I has dropped from 255lbs and love every minute of it. I dont miss any of the junk food that i used to eat and the only thing on my mind is my goals! Its not shirts i have problems finding its jeans! Ones that dont bunch in the back or crotch. BP is my stronger lift but ive always had a strong chest. Squats kill me with the travel but i push through it. Best squat is 415lbs 8 times and BP is 305lbs
6 ft 8 here trying to transform my body but I always been tall its harder for me to build being so tall in the gym so I'm shy most of the time
6 ft 8 here trying to transform my body but I always been tall its harder for me to build being so tall in the gym so I'm shy most of the time
I used to be shy in the gym. Felt like a big skinny clumsy loser.. It sucks but you will get there!
Being tall and big makes you outshadow all the stacked little guys.

No reason to be shy. You are out pushing yourself to become a better you. Who cares of you dont lift heavy yet! Everyons started somewhere. My buddy i train with sometimes makes me look like a school girl but he doesnt judge me cause he started where i did and built his way there! Keep on it man!
6-6 215 here ohio
6ft 6 here
Building muscle is harder for tall guys? What aload of baloney!!!!
I think it's more of an excuse than anything
6ft2 barefooted 6ft3 and 4 shoes, add me on ********, John Smeton
6'4 198lbs
Just go full range of motion. get some mass by doing heavy lifts, deadlifts, squats. these will help your other lifts. Makin all kinds of gains!
Muscle looks way better on a tall person than a shortie. Ex. Gunter Schiierkampf, Mike Ohearn, Arnold, Antoine Vaillant.
Us 6 footers must eat at least 3000 calories a day to grow.
Peace

Rawrrr 6'3 with 6'5 wingspan

6'2 and adding size is a pain, especially in the arms. i only weigh 164 also. so im not only tall, but an ectomorph. anti bodybuilding body type.
Checking in at 6'5
Hard to get size when you're tall.
6'4 here. Been working out (properly!) for about 4 months now, really begining to see some gains in my upper body..
It's mostly my legs that are still lacking though.
6'3" here. I love being a taller bodybuilder...always get those 2nd glances lol. Have you ever been behind someone shorter like in line somewhere and watch them get startled when they turn around facing your chest...I almost lmao every time.
180lbs it's very difficult to gain muscle mass.
