Trying to figure out the best cals/buck for a few foods and locally can buy bananas at .49/lb.
Obviously this includes the peel-->0 cals.
So per lb of bananas (454g) how many grams is actual edible banana?

Depends how big the banana is
On that note, how much does the shell of a watermelon weigh?

I weighed one also lol, the skin weighed 31grams and the total banana was 138g so 22% of the weight is skin.
Which means for 454grams of banana, 78% of it is edible which is 354.1grams ..
Hope that helps!
repped 2 of 2 so fat
interesting to see one person get about 60% banana and the other 78%
any others?

I'm sure you get plenty of banana
0.49/lb is cheap as fukk bro.
My bananas weigh 220 grams with 170 grams banana inside the skin. (so that's ~ 77.2% lol)
I think best calories/$ are obtained through peanuts/nuts, peanut butter, oils/butters, avocado's, fatty meats.. but that depends on location mostly.
206 total 152 edible 54 peel

wouldnt eat rice if you paid me
There is no possible way to answer this question generically. It will depend on the size of the banana and the thickness of the peel. Not only that but I think it's really overanalyzing the situation.
Yeah, to go along with psychodiver, it would depend on how big the banana is and how ripe it is. The more ripe the banana, the thinner the peel would be.
last bananas I weighed:
141.5g with peal : 101.1without : ~28%peal
213.75g with peal : 142.5g without: ~33% peal
hope this helps
