They don't necessarily go hand in hand. Some competitors like to model, some don't. Some fitness models like to compete, some don't. One is not a requirement for the other.
My friend had hookups for fitness modeling. But he just went to compete to try it. But both is good. Competing will show yourself out to the world which leads to more modeling if you like it.
Don't really go hand-in-hand, but by doing both it may open up more doors.
i agree, competing is a good way to showcase your physique and can open more doors. There is always reps from magazines at the shows scouting for models, so its a good place to get noticed.

Would agree highly. Network as much as possible.
They usually go hand in hand but one is not a requirement for the other. One may aid in the success of the other with exposure!
Im entering my first physique competition in a couple weeks and I'm having my first professional photo shoot the day after. I use both to motivate me to be in the best shape possible. So in that sense I think they go together quite well. Hope this helps.
