Best Choline form?
What is the best form of choline? I was taking Alpha GPC, but decided to switch to DMAE this time around. Now I'm reading DMAE isn't very effective, and can have negative effects after prolonged usage.
So, what is the best form of choline. I'm not taking it with a nootropic if that matters.
Thanks.

Alpha GPC is the "best" form as it has some cool health effects beyond normal choline supplementation, though it's not the most cost effective.
DMAE is not choline, though it is a nice nootropic. I'd take it for added focus, but the "negative" is that you can establish tolerance over time. Either cycle off or don't use too frequently to avoid this.
If you're just looking for a "choline source" you can go for something like SNS Choline Citrate, it will still get you your choline and will be cheaper per serving than Alpha GPC

Go old school with Lecithin :-)

CDP-Choline definitely gets my vote. --> I'll explain further when I've got a few.

Got a couple examples of the othe health effects? Thanks.

i went with citrate when i used it, but that was for cost reasons. I wish i had the money at the time to try a better option

Little bumpsky, since I don't think my question warrants a whole new thread...
I'm just curious if any SNS reps could aware me why they use choline bitartrate in their focus xt, but sell bulk choline citrate?
Not really important, just wondering.

This, along with Alpha-GPC

I prefer CDP-choline --> citicoline over other choline forms primarily due to the cytidine moiety and the resultant elevated cellular uridine and brain cytidine triphosphate concentrations that accompany it's administration.
Citicoline [as Ferreret al, 2006 stated], is an "essential intermediate in the biosynthetic pathway of structural phospholipids in cell membranes, particularly phosphatidylcholine."
Following oral administration, citicoline is hydrolyzed to choline, cytidine, and uridine. The latter of which, enters the brain and various tissues and is phosphorylated to UTP. UTP in turn, is then converted via CTP synthetase to form CTP, another rate-limiting cofactor in PC biosynthesis. Additionally, the research suggests that citicoline optimizes mitochondrial ATPase activity and membrane Na+/K+ATPase potential.

Agree with no hype, definitely citicoline. It's not cheap though.

That would definitely be my second choice.

Oh yeah, citicoline's anti-beta amyloid properties are of particular interest as well. --> /rant

Granted, it's expensive. Still more cost-effective than Alpha-GPC.

Is SNS not carried here anymore?
And what product do you recommend for CDP-Choline? I was previously on Jarrow A-GPC.
Thanks for the responses.

Jarrow also offers a CDP form.

I like to use about 3:2 Choline Citrate to CDP-Choline.

Sadly, SNS is no longer carried on bodybuilding.com.
Their rep presence is still strong here, though.

No hate but as the last ingredient in that blend I don't see you noticing much from citicoline, unless caffeine is at least 300mg and everything else is 300 after that. I enjoy it at around 500mg
-
VS had Jarrow citicoline for $30. 60 capsules, 250mg each. The alpha-gpc is the same price, same count, 300mg. Just an FYI since some thought it should be cheaper for citicoline. Also, I'm 6' 185lbs. Would you guys recommend taking 500mg per day? Is this something where, since I've been taking a choline supp for a while, I should only need 250? Thanks.
Surprised to see "banned" under nohype's name.
