You'd not fare well at my workouts then...I'm out of the gym by 6:30am.
Seriously though, you do get use to that type of schedule. It also feels good to know that you've got your training in first thing.
I don't know if this is right or not but if I workout after breakfast I feel I'm not as strong as if I workout after 2 or 3 meals...it would feel good to get it out the way early, on the plus more food intake feeding your muscles, but less down time to recover....but hey I'm far from on the level for those details to matter I suppose, right now it's just about the best time where I can actually get my lazy ass to go
Hello Fellow Canadians (first post!)
I'm a Goodlife member, i workout in the GTA, i alternate between 3 locations: Milcreek and Derry in Mississauga, Dufferin and Finch In Toronto, also the Madison center location at Yonge & Sheppard
def hard to stay motivated over the past few months without vehicle access and extreme cold, but now that i have consistent vehicle access, i'm more inclined to spend my free time at those locations sometimes before and mostly after work. (the perils of working until 2am)
I workout at the Dufferin/Finch location a few times a week. Let me know if you need some fitness advice/tips. I'd be more than willing to help:)

Try not to get too hung up on bodyfat % because its going to drive you nuts. I've been there. Here's how I gauge this thing called bodyfat %.
If you can see your abs without flexing then you're hovering around 9-10%.
Just focus on your nutrition. Most people (esp beginners) put so much emphasis on hitting the gym but none on their diet. Prep your meals in advance and keep track of your calories. Figure out your maintenance cals and subtract 500 from that. That should be your target cals everyday for a few weeks until you stop losing weight. There's plenty of websites that does this for you. Go ahead and google it.
Last but not the least, PATIENCE. It takes time to see some noticeable results.

Yep, sounds like me alright. Like I said, I've been trying to eat clean, but I don't necessarily meal prep, and God knows I have next to no patience.
But in gains related news I did deadlift 5 sets of 140 lbs . tonight at milcreek, I'm thinking about hitting duff and finch late morning early afternoon tomorrow for a arm workout.
-
If I didn't meal prep....good chance I'd starve to death if the caffeine didn't keep me going lol.
It's pretty crazy how nutrition impacts body composition/performance at the gym.
Consistency is key, stay dedicated and you'll progress.

Are you trying to gain weight weight because I'm under the impression that you're trying to lean out. Do you have a program that's consistent to your goals?
-
Hey Canadians.
Anyone near Oakville? I work out at the National Fitness here. Stay warm everybody . . .

Well to be honest I was never really the athletic type, I'm just trying to build muscle and lose fat. I figured stronglifts 5x5 would be best for the muscle building and cardio for the fat loss.

I have been doing meal prep for so long, that I am not sure I know how or would be comfortable trying to live without doing it. It is easier when you only have yourself to feed and look after.

Halifax got 30 cm on Sunday and again tonight we are suppose to get another 15 cm and another 15 cm tomorrow morning for a total of 30 cm. I sure hope they are wrong and it is rain or nothing. This is such odd winter for Halifax this year.
-
Well the weather folks were sure wrong on this storm. We had another 62cm fall yesterday after our 30cm on Sunday...this is the oddest winter I have ever experienced here in Halifax. Now we are suppose to get rain on Saturday...let the flooding begin!
