I just finished week 5, which was my first increase week. yay! :D

MADCOW
Intensity Day Week 5
Squats
65x5
88x5
115x5
136x5
163x3
115x8 (felt so much easier after the 163)
Bench Press
barx5
51x5
65x5
78x5
95x3
65x5
Pendlay Row
barx5
55x5
70x5
85x5
100x3
70x8
Assistance
Bench Dips x8, x8, x8 all BW
Barbell Curls 51x5, 51x5, 45x8
Skullcrushers 50x5, 50x5, 45x8
All of my x3 reps are PR's. I hope this keeps going until at least week 8. WOuld be awesome. Of course I was not lacking in calories this week. Thanks turkey and sweet potatoes!
I am back on dieting now. I am going to try and do 2k lift days and 1k non lift days (only T and Th) on Sat and SUn I will do 1500 base and if I do cardio, I can "earn" some more calories. The 1k non-lift days will also be the 6 hour window. It's the only way I will succeed with only 1k.
I will do this until we leave for our Christmas Vacation and then reassess. Unless I fail miserably and then I will have no choice but to reassess. haha!
-
Nice job nailing all those PRs, and 3 digits on the pendlay rows! Stay safe on those two 1k cal days, carbsareyourfriend.jpg :)

thanks! i am happy about the 100 on the rows. :D
yeah, i think i will allow myself to earn back calories on t and th with elliptical. i think myfitnesspal over estimates, so if i do 30 minutes, i only put in for 15 minutes. so likely, i will be eating about 1200 on T and Th.
-
I'm with you on that Geek i think MFP over estimates too. Looks like you are doing great. I need to be more like you :)

front view vid of my 163x3. i tried to get the weights in at the beginning including the microweights, which you can see on the inside of the 45# plate. anyways. the lean that will never go away! but at least it's only really showing up when i am struggling. tried very hard to stop it, but you can see it a bit. if you guys can see anything other than lean that i can focus on, let me know!
also pls ignore crazy lifting face. RAWR

thanks! lemme know if it worked

You know I cannot comment on form, but I can comment on the fact that your thighs are going in and you're starting to get an hour-glass figure!
highfive.jpg
-
Yep it's working! From what I can see that looked pretty good, it doesn't look like your knees are caving in at all, looks like you're going to proper depth too. Are your feet pointed out at an angle? Stance looks wide enough. You're talking about the lean slightly to the side right? Looks solid other than that IMO. I am curious to see what some of our resident squatters have to say about it, squats still confuse the ham outta me srs.
-
if i post it on powerlifting they are gonna sass me for not having front side and back views head to toe :p
but if anyone here can tell anything that would be great.
haha! i mean the lean forward *and* that stoopid lean to the right that the bar has. i dont know wtf that is!
also, and this is kinda scary, but the front of my right hip and my right knee at insertion kinda bug me lots. the hip thing esp when im lifting. its not painful it just pops up and says howdy. the hip thing feels like its tight? squat/body mechanic smarties are more than welcomed to tell me whats what.
and fizz, thank you! i feel esp fat after having pigged out these past five days.
-
todays foods. i even fit pumpkin pie in there :D
2,018 187 carbs 70 fats 170 protein (omg turkey you are my savior)
-
Squats looked good to me geek, better form than mine for sure. I have some tight hips and glutes that cause me some minor issues as well. I hope to work through them and get my form in better shape eventually. You are looking thinner for sure, the diet is working
-
Oh damn forward lean?? Ah I couldn't really tell from that angle (lol don't shoot me for angle-complaining. :D) As for the hip/knee thing when I get that I start stretching at least 3x a day - quads, IT bands, calves, hams and that usually fixes it. Pain = flexibility sucks, other than that I have no idea.
-
AAAHH Geek i wanted to thank you so much for the kind words in my journal. That was just what i needed to hear. It has been a tough year for me in a lot of ways but Brittany leaving was the hardest then the whole menopause and weight gain..i just wonder if i can get myself under control. But coming here and seeing everyone stuggles and successes gives me hope..so just know you are one of my motivators :)
-
Awesome squats, Geek!
I also have to comment on the rows and rows and rows of books behind you. It makes my heart so happy to see that! :D I love to read, but haven't had much time for it lately. :( When I was a kid, we didn't have a TV (true story - musta been the only kid I knew w/o a TV. Missed out on Samurai Pizza Cats and all those other great shows) so I read. Constantly. Off the top of my head, I can count five floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in my childhood house that were packed with books. <3 I blame it for my overactive imagination. :D
Also - you are looking freakin' fantastic! You realize that, right? The changes you're making and the weight you're lifting is just awesome! :D
Happy Saturday!!
-
Ricki, I wish that my parents hadn't allowed me to watch so much TV. Oh well. I think not having TV is great!
-
Looking at your squat vid, I can't find a darned thing wrong from the front, it looks great. But I had to rewind and go back to the beginning to check out your form because the first time around I was too caught up looking at the shape of your legs - you are looking FANTASTIC!!
-
Hiya geek! Just swinging by to say Happy Sunday!
-
squats look good! really nice job.
I lean more when my elbow fall down and upper back loosens up <- just food for thought, I didn't see a lean in yours.
And like everyone said - body changes are obvious, so don't beat yourself up over enjoying a few desserts/food items. And for hip, do you foam roll?
-
...why haven't I been in here...
Hi:)
-
Geek!!! I went back to check out your vid and damn girl, you are looking fantastic! I see such a difference in your body comp. Definitely have leaned out in the legs and the tumtum. Does anyone not have tumtum flubba? That's the first place I see any weight gain on me .... blerg
Awesome job, Geekazon :)
-
Nice squatting, Geek! All your hard work on form is paying off :D
Excellent working-in of the pumpkin pie ;)
-
Hi Geek,
Just wanted to check and thank you again for your kind words..You are the best ;)

aw v. you're great. you can do this. you're like me, you won't give up even when you falter. you keep getting back up. its the very definition of success.
Awesome squats, Geek!

BOOKS! got me through my childhood. but so did tv. loved them both. with me, we didnt have cable when i was little and certainly no cartoon network, so there was a tiny window of tv that kids liked and then you had to go find other things to do. from mrs piggle wiggle all the way to candide, i relied on books to get me through.
these days? not so much. i figure when the little one is in school full time, i will have regained my mind and can read again. i miss getting involved and reading for hours. if you know of any particularly engrossing and fairly easy to read novels, i'd love to get a list. i think i could do that.
and thanks!
Ricki, I wish that my parents hadn't allowed me to watch so much TV. Oh well. I think not having TV is great!
i wish i could say that. i *love* tv. so much so, that we dont allow cable in the house. the only tv i have is hulu and netflix. it helps to prevent mindless hgtv for hours and hours. i was addicted to that channel!

aw thanks, 80's. and i'm glad at least from this angle my squat is looking pretty good.

hey yourself, ms redfizz. happy monday!! :D

i was watching videos on how to foam roll! yeah, i think im going to get a foam roller and try that out along with stretching. which i never do. bc im stubborn like that. i will try the elbows back to see if it helps keep me upright. thanks!
...why haven't I been in here...
Hi:-)
hey pharty! i'm glad you said howdy. i love all your stories about doing the mom thing. also jelly of your OHP.

thank you, swooshie.
that flubba will get smaller but it's here to stay. until surgery, that is. it'll be nice to be at goal and then cut that skin off and sew up my abdominal muscles, which are crazy stretched. so i focus on my butt and legs and i see it. my husband says my back is looking lots better, too. i'm not on prednisone or anything, but i had a bad buffalo hump. it's finally disappearing!
Nice squatting, Geek! All your hard work on form is paying off :-D

:D thank you, charli.
Hi Geek,
Just wanted to check and thank you again for your kind words..You are the best ;-)
you're pretty great yourself, vanessa.
so i think i'm sick. kid is definitely sick. fever and SUPER grouchy and even more raccoonlike than ever.
got on elliptical and within 30 seconds my heart rate was in the 150's! i feel out of breath all the time and chilly. havent checked my temp but i think its near normal. dunno what this is.
it reminds me of how i felt every day when i was 300 pounds. good reminder to not lose sight even when things arent working as i'd hoped. never want to feel like this on a daily basis again.
ill see how i feel today when i start squatting. might take it light today.
-
I hate to hear you are not feeling well. I so know what you mean about feeling like when you were bigger. Coming off my alcohol/carb binge i could just feel the excess around my tummy and how i would be winded doing things that did not use to bother me. Remembering that keeps me on course now. I hope everyone feels better soon..
-
Oh man second sick person in a row over here today. :( Take it easy, I hope you're feeling better tomorrow!
-
Feel better soon Geek. Agree that rest is good policy. :)

Wow! Nice lifting! I saw a guy last night at the gym squatting that much and he ended at 176lbs.
I can fully appreciate the strength you have there :)
Get well soon!

Oh no sick is no good! I pretty much don't want my kids to touch me once they start school=cooties galore! Hope you feel better soon!

^^^ What rickie said!!!
Also - loving your bookshelves too - my home office (slash place to put all of the kids toys that don't fit in the family room) has 5 huge bookshelves full of books, most shelves are completely doubled up front to back and top to bottom with books too. Hubs and I are both big readers - I seriously can't tell you how excited I was to finish my MBA and have time at night after the kids go to bed to read something I WANT to read instead of a Harvard Business School case paper haha:)
Yay for turkey and good protein counts!!!! :)
