Some people literally can't swallow pills. So "sucking it up" isn't an option for them.

Better get ready to chase that like its the cheapest vodka you ever drank. Flax seed pill burps are terrible I cant even imagine what fish oil taste like.
They make flavored fish oil
It's actually highly recommended, as it increases absorption greatly. It's especially effective when combined with pulverized liver tabs and mixed into a paste, for an anabolic treat, or when mixed with icariin powder and allowed to sit in a bolus under the tongue for sublingual absorption.[color=white]heheheh[/color]

I've broken one in my mouth before and it was pretty damn disgusting. It was the fishiest taste I've ever experienced. It was almost as bad as when I was ****ing around and chewed a vitamin C.
some capsules are harder than others to open, the NOW brand feels like it has a kevlar coating or some **** around it. I was curious enough one day to try an experiment to test the potency of the oil (google: fish oil styrofoam test), and I had to cut open the capsule, and it was still difficult with a god damn steak knife.
Yes, you can do that, and it will have the same effect.
It shouldn't be fishy tasting and smelling btw... that's a sign of rancid fish oil... Same thing can be said for fish you buy at the store... fish oil is highly sensitive to oxidation and if not processed and formulated properly you might actually be ingesting rancid oil.
I've done this with the AOR Omega Natal fish oil I use and it tastes pretty good actually... well not great, but good for fish oil. Omega Natal is an excellent fish oil.
If it's the gag reflex that is hindering you from swallowing these pills:
put your left thumb in your palm (similar to the expression "I got your nose" you may do to children) and squeeze it as you swallow. It inhibits the reflex.
why not just buy fish oil in its original liquid form?
I have a hard time swallowing pills too. Narrow esophogus. This is sort of off topic, but if you're looking for a multi, Orange Triad is actually really easy to swallow for it's size. I don't know what they coat it with, but if you let it sit for a couple seconds with water in your mouth, it gets slippery and goes down easy.
I recommend Nordic Naturals liquid. You don't taste anything but the lemon flavor.

Sounds horrible! I used to really have a hard time taking pills. You can get better with practice for sure...
yes i use to split all the big pills. now it's fairly easy. worst for me was when I had to take 5 huge creatine pills after working out. throat constricting as I'm still cooling down and panting a bit. 2 out of 5 went down harsh every time lol
now i just use the powder creatine in my protein shake after working out. cheaper and easier to take
i'm adding flax oil pills to my supps this week. sure hope they dont give me these nasty burps i hear of. though i'm vegan so i guess it's better than tasting fish all day.

avoid the enterically coated then. No reason to delay digestion until past the stomach if you are breaking the cap.
I used to not be able to swallow pills when I was younger. After patience and practice, I finally got it down. It just takes some getting used to.
Most of my supps now are in the pill form (Animal Pak, Pump, and Nitro) and I have no problem swallowing them down.

ahh yeah intelligent response...do you realise that some people literally choke on them as they have a narrow oeso****us?!!! So people like myself can't just suck it up and "learn" to swallow a pill as it will literally get stuck in my throat and cause great discomfort, retching and vomiting.
I'm glad I can take my multivitamin, fish oil, cissus, and liver support all in one gulp :) 7 big pills

What? Man vitamin C tabs taste awesome. I always chew them up just for the taste. srs. Got a nice sour tart taste to them. :)
What is worst is chewing dexaprine pills. Talk about the worst taste ever.

Not all fish oil is the same. Often with medicine and sups the outer coating is added so that only once the tablet reaches a certain part of the digestive cycle will the enzymes break the coating and allow the body to absorb the supp/medicine there. Fish oil is pretty safe but in general consult a GP
I have a hard time taking pills, capsules, tablets and what not as well. I either chew them up or break open the capsules and chase with water. Its very nasty at first but you eventually get used to it. I found that chasing with water then quickly drinking a small amount of hershey syrup right out of the bottle to mask the taste works great. Just dont go crazy and drink a whole bottle of hershey syrup :)
My question to everyone though is, does breaking the capsules open and chasing with water diminish the effects of the pill? Cause I do that with all my pills
For example Opti-Men I just chew it up and swallow with water.

I feel your pain.. I used to be able to take all kinds of pills with only some mild discomfort until I literally choked on one at work. Ended up vomiting it up on the floor... That experience is enough to keep me from ever "trying" it again.
id recommend against it. it's insanely disgusting. just buy the liquid oils next time.

Get the BB.com brand fish oil, it comes in lemon flavor.
That would be extremely gross if you did. The taste would be unbearable. However they do make liquid fish oil that is flavored so you can add it into your shakes and such or drink it straight up. Would advise a liquid oil,not just breaking open a cap. After the first time you do it, I don't think you would want to do it again.

pretty pricey, but taste like HEAVEN! Super high quality too, it tastes so good I wish a serving was half a cup so I could eat it like yogurt.

My little daughter just chews one (barleans with orange flavor in it I believe) I tried a bunch and chewed them to find one daughter could handle and barleans is good to go no aftertaste etc.
I've been doing it now, and since I'm not a little bitch the fishy taste isn't a big deal. Should be fine if you don't mind the fish taste! The body definitely absorbs it faster.
being 17 you should not be using any supps.
