Well...it won't be long now. The site is covered in kidy pron spam. Ugh.
Do not go gentle into that good night Equipment Crew. Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Yeah I still enjoy this place.

Needs some serious resuscitation.
I think I'm going to just start finding a reason to post in the equipment section everyday. Regardless of how insignificant the post may be

New threads have no hope, but at least we have more sticky options now to keep the conversations going. Stupid spam.

That was predictable.
Eventually this appalling neglect may result in content that attracts the attention of some-or-another government agency, organization, or crusading individual whose attention is... *cough*... "undesirable," and somebody's gonna find themselves in serious regret mode.
See, for example: attractive nuisance doctrine (IANAL, nor do I play one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night) and Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Yes indeed.
You give any more thought to starting up another forum? I know a group of people in the Workout Programs/Journals section that are looking for another option if/when this site goes down.

Sorry, no. Kind of busy with other projects that have a somewhat higher priority.
Sorry, no. Kind of busy with other projects that have a somewhat higher priority.
No worries. I totally understand.
The main draw of using an existing forum that's focused on this subject is the opportunity to interact with other like minded individuals. Without that dynamic I suspect things would get stale relatively quickly. This is one of the main reasons I haven't just started up a new site. People are constantly coming and going and if we lose the opportunity for new people to join in it's likely not going to last very long.
A quick search turned up a few existing forums that could be viable options:

https://www.theironden.com/forum/
https://www.exodus-strength.com/forum/
Thoughts from everyone?
I don't get it. Obviously a moderator is still around and making these threads stickies, but they don't clear out the spam and ban the users? Is this the only power moderators have left?
FWIW, I'm planning to join up at Exodus. The forum software is outdated, but I like the structure and the environment more than the others.
If there's a consensus that differs from this I'm happy to participate wherever most decide to go, and I'll continue to be here for the foreseeable future as well.
Don't bother with Underground Bodybuilding (ugbodybuilding). The entire thing is like misc. Though there are some good people there, it's overly-populated by people with inflated egos and juvenile emotional development.
Dunno about the other two. If you try 'em, let us know.
I'm seriously thinking about bailing, here. Not real comfortable being on a site that's allowing kiddie porn spam--even through neglect, rather than purposely (I presume).

Yep, I don't blame you. I'm uncomfortable with it as well.
I've just joined Exodus. We'll see how it goes.
Here's a link to the Equipment Sub-Forum there if anyone cares to check it out: https://www.exodus-strength.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=10

I tried to join exodus. But I could not get past their Confirmation of Registration question. They did not like my answer to their question: "Our lord and savior’s name?" Then they changed it to "The golden number." Had to google that one, but they still did not like my answer. At least, I assume that is why I could not register. I kept getting the message: "You have provided an invalid answer to the question."
I stopped after I exceeded the maximum number of registration attempts.

Yeah, I ran into the same issue. It appears they have some gatekeeping measures in place.
I found this post in one of the stickies that will help with those questions. ;)

Thanks for the link. Their answers are just plain stupid. I am not impressed with their registration system. Their moderation seems good, though.

LOL as an atheist they wouldn't like my answer to either question.
Exodus-strength was getting hit by an influx of spam 1-2 years ago and changed their registration process to be impossible unless you bothered to read the stickies, which they figured most spam bots would not be doing.
Heh. Now somebody made this thread a sticky

Oh wow. Just reinforces how serious the situation is.
Thank you to whoever stickied it!
What on earth is going on with the spam here? I haven't been on here much at all in the past month and it seems to have only gotten worse.

The powers that be have apparently lost the motivation and/or ability to take steps at preventing and eliminating it. Seems the forum is circling the drain.
Jeebus….I didn’t think the spam could get much worse. Boy was I proven wrong.
I can't believe I missed this thread. Echos everything I've thought for a long time. It's like the equipment forum dwindled during COVID when equipment was the hottest it's ever been.
Nothing compares to this forum and the people that make/made it what it is. I think UrbanLifter and I are on one of the FB groups - the one that sucks the least and is generally positive - but no comparison to knowledge base here. I quit one of the groups as people would crap all over each other and basically it was filled with 19 year old know nothings where if you didn't buy the absolute cheapest crap option (because that's all they could afford) people were spurred. One older guy posted a great collection of vintage Eleiko bars and was **** all over by a bunch of 165lbs 5'10" wannabe tough guys who were probably thrown out of their local gym, know nothing, haven't done anything nor will they ever, and will likely have a new hobby in mom's basement in 2 years. Pathetic.
Would be nice to clean up the escort/porn stuff here.
EDIT:
Currently ever single post on page 1 not a sticky is spam about porn, spell craft, escort services in Thailand catering to girly boys, etc...I scrolled deeper, 5 pages and not one real content thread. All China porn/spam.
If people here are leaving and find a new home for this community...please post where. I'll follow ASAP.
Reporting back after some time spent at Exodus - I'm very impressed by the level of discussion. Nearly everyone that's active there seems to have many years of experience and there's a lot of intelligent conversation. It's certainly less populated than this place and doesn't have the regular influx of new lifters. But still is pretty active. VERY highly recommended.
As mentioned already, just be aware of the Registration process if you wish to join. Reference this link: https://www.exodus-strength.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=279868#p279868
I tried registering for exodus forums, it won't send me an activation email, tried a dozen times already.

The activation email claims to be from exodusstrength at gmail, but, it really comes from hostyourservices.net and is delivered by hostingplatform.net.au.

First place I checked, nothing in spam.
