I'd be OK with him giving the Saints the finger and retiring. He's earned that right to not be cancelled over some silly chit and have to apologize for it.
Besides, Taysom is gonna rip y'all a new one for the next 5 years :D
this sht runs so deep that most dont even want an apology.
it's clear that for drew "freedom" comes with caveats.
This is the same LeBron James that criticized the GM of the Houston Rockets for supporting Hong Kong protesters, saying that he was "misinformed and not educated". Biggest hypocrite in sport.
Incorrect he criticized him for not understanding that NBA players were in China when he made those comments and the government went crazy. Morey later in agreed
Example 7,803,4257 of how being a straight white male is becoming more difficult in today's society.
Blacks can be mistreated simply for the color of their skin, will never deny that and they deserve much better.
Whites can have their careers ended just by opening their mouths and saying something that a minority disagrees with.
he can come to the Boys cuz Jerrah don't play that kneeling chit either.
Richard Sherman is remarkably unintelligent for someone who graduated from Stanford.
But just lmao @ these room temp IQ athletes. If you value their stance on anything, rather than gathering the facts and formulating your own logical conclusion... you are brain-dead.
Some of you are too stupid to understand why this statement is a problem. He basically reiterated he won't be doing this "because he doesn't want to disrespect the flag".. thereby insinuating that anyone who does is disrespecting America and the flag, separating the issue yet again. As Rodgers said, it was NEVER about the flag.
I respect breed his opinion but dude should of keep his mouth shut will at the **** that's going on right now

This.
It's all fine and dandy to be "woke" until it hits your wallet.. then we find out who's woke and who's just saying **** to virtue signal.

If he would have stated
"I will not be kneeling, but I understand the reason why others will"
No one would have a problem

Fuk yes they would have.
Fuk yes they would have.
Absolutely not. No one is demanded all athletes now must kneel before the anthem.. and those that do demand that are a very VERY small minority

“It was never about the flag.”
Kap in his own words: “I’m not going to standup and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people”

Brees isn’t allowed to shut up about it. He and damn near any other person in public life are being forced to speak on the issue, and if it deviates one iota from the chosen speaking points, that person gets attacked. Sydney Crosby didn’t say anything and was attacked for it. So today he came out and said something. Hopefully it was sufficient.
People are literally emailing businesses to get their statement on this, so that if it’s not up to their standard they can be outraged.

He also originally intended to sit.. but did not want to seem disrespectful to service members and came to a compromise with an Army Beret who advised kneeling as that shows more of a "respect" factor to service men and women.
There were also countless of other NFL players who gave their reasons for why they were kneeling
buying a drew brees jersey now

Lebron is something else. One would think after his China comments, he would think twice before going at another player, but this dude has no shame.
I hate what sports has become. used to be a getaway where we could BS about teams/players.
Who is ready to eat some DUBYAS!?
but srsly Brees is one of the biggest nfl player philanthropists out there...people are so fickle

Ungrateful kunts. I hope he retires, takes his family to San Diego and lives his best family life. I say that as a lifelong Saints fan.

Hope Brees asks for his release and the Saints end up 6-10. We'll see how much people care about politics then..
Drew Brees was one interview shy of being perfect

This right here, there’s no winning with the cancel woke crew. Dak did a pretty cool thing today and he’s getting hated on. There’s no winning.
lol every time people get pissy over what pro athletes say about politics. brees' life revolves around throwing egg-shaped balls at the right place at the right time. so long as he's not openly sabotaging others, who ****ing cares
I think the crux of Brees problem is that he was naive to the fact that his American experience, and the experience of his family - albeit it noble - is greatly different to the Black American experience. His message was logically valid, but it's not the time or place for that message.
Unite, adapt and overcome is a great message for after a crisis, but not as one is unfolding.
I think Brees has enough social/football capital to overcome today though.
Much respect to Brees.. good for him to stand up to the *******ry.
Weird how Kap got to decide what’s required not to be a racist
Bill Billichick abouta swoop in
A lot of heart just no common sense.
