Just traded in for a 2012 Audi A5. Fuark. This thing is burriful. I could sit on the ground and stare at it all day. A little slow, but the turbo charged engine gives some kick. Bang and Olufsen sound system is legit.

DP and APR's Stage 2+ will make that little engine feel pretty big for less than $1000 installed.

Does it really give better gas mileage? If I can get better gas mileage with increased performance, I will definitely do it.
My stage 2 on the mk6 gave me better gas mileage when im not beating on it.
im right there with you bro. Not a fan of the B9. Get the B8.5 for sure
yup im gald i got my b8.5 s4.
The b9 s4 doesnt come with the DCT S-tronic or Manual option, its straight auto trans with tiptronic.
Finally got new wheels! neuspeed rse-12's, 18x8. Dropped 5 pounds per corner, feels great.

they claim the S-Tronic can't take the extra torque from the new turbo, but some of those stage 2-3 B8's seem to handle it just fine
TBH the 8 speed ZF is an awesome slushbox, I didn't notice any downgrade between the 2/3/4 series and the B8.5 DCT when I test drove them all.. but I guess with more time behind the wheel it might be apparent with more shifting
I like that the new model has cut nearly half a second off the 0-60 time with much better gas milage but still don't love that face
2jz posting in a Vag thread....
Little broski got new wheels for his GTI so I figured I'd share:

Yes. It has way more torque at the low-band so I never have to bump my needle ever 2,500 RPM and people are already 4 car lengths behind me just cruising. The engine doesn't have to work as hard. My city MPG factory was rated at 19 and I'm getting a steady 22, and even up to 24 when I'm granny shifting.

A lot of power for such a little car, you will have a fuarking blast with it. Now all you need is a tune and downpipe ;)

It's also disgustingly good (and fun) in the snow.

Always wanted an R32.
Just bought some Coilovers for my MK3 and new cup kit. Soon...

Thanks! Yeah I already don't miss it, just passed 350 miles earlier and gave it the full treatment up to 5500 through a few gears for the first time, definitely a fast car. When you're above 3500 and the boost hits, hnnnnnggg

The problem with that is people have reported clutch slippage with stage 1 in manual trannys (VW historically has weak manual clutches, I was hoping they'd stop being dicks with this new gen), which means I'll probably have to drop a grand or two on a new clutch that can handle it (was considering going with the DSG because it can handle the monster torque numbers but fuk that, rather spend that money on a new clutch). Sucks but I found one that seems to be an improvement over stock in terms of resistance and feel (makes it more BMW like and less like pedaling air) and can handle 450 lb/ft.
Theres no way I can not tune this car, stage 2 with a downpipe is cranking out 382 hp and 387 lb/ft (edit: actually APR is almost done with upgrading both stage 1 and 2 so its gunna be even more... holy fuk)
It's also disgustingly good (and fun) in the snow.
I've been driving it in the wet a lot the last couple days and it's crazy good.

You're gunna like those suspension mods, dem lateral G's...
I threw some vinyl wrap on it today, didn't get to the bottom chrome piece or the center piece the emblem sits on but I dunno, might leave it as is. Also decided I'm gunna get the roof wrapped in gloss black.

Nice! I think I've seen your car on VwVortex. I really like the LSG. I've had a 16 Onyx White Pearl for about a month now and I love it. What size are your wheels? I'm thinking about some 18inch Neuspeed wheels once I eat through the factory tires.

These are 18x8 neuspeeds wrapped with michelin PSS, no spacers yet but thats next on the list. Yeah I'm on vortex, waiting patiently for Arin/APR to get their chit together and release tunes for H ecu '16's. That white is the best I've ever seen, looks so good on the R.
I was going to put vwr springs on it but I don't want to mess with the stock setup too much, doesn't seem to need anything (other then a tune).
I got the roof wrapped and 35% tint all around, looks awesome in person:

1. They are running a loyalty program right now, if you own a VW you get 2k off. I've read that people are going out and buying a dirt cheap VW so they can trade it in and take advantage of that. It goes until Nov. 2nd.
2. Get a '16 SE, don't worry about the performance pack your gf won't need it unless she drives really hard. The 16's have a updated 6.5 inch mibII infortainment system that is sick (same one thats in my R), it has apple and android carplay, way faster processor, etc. The SE trim also has keyless entry which has already spoiled me for life, won't ever own a car without it, and the fender audio which is better then the system in my dads 335i. If she wants the plaid cloth seats of the S trim she can find someone on the forums to swap with, not worth getting that trim just for the seats.
3. Have her become a SCCA member, I think its 50 or 90 bucks, can't remember, but SCCA members get $500 below invoice on GTIs, and if you own a VW you can get 2k below that number, which is a fuking awesome deal for such a great car.
4. If she wants speed have it tuned by APR, stage 1 should do it. Brb 320hp, 350 lb/ft.

hnnnggggggggggggg
Well guys I think I am going to trade my MK7 GTI in for a TDI Golf. I am not sure if I can even get one in CA yet. I originally bought the GTI for my daughter but I think its not the right car for her. I am going back to BMW and getting an F80 M3. I am going to try for Euro Delivery next summer. I am leaving the country in December for 6 months. Has anyone been able to buy a TDI recently? My brother has a '14 Passat SEL TDI and I think they are going to buy it back from him.
