Off today. Trying to get some much needed rest. I have DOMS in my traps, lats, rhomboids, Abs, forearms, biceps, glutes, and hams from the last few days of lifting. Hopefully I did something right to deserve them:). I weighed in at 172.3 this morning, so the diet is working great so far. Hopefully I can reach my goal without any cardio or anymore restrictions on calories. I am only going to go down a few more pounds anyway, then up the calories to around 3,000 to 3,100 over the next few weeks after that point and see where that takes me. Thanks Andrew. I am feeling it all over today. Anything that makes me look remotely close to cmoore is a big plus. I was unsure on the bent over rows if I was leaned over enough or too upright. I know with the heavier sets I tend to be more upright at the top of the pull. I wish my biceps would keep the pump that they had last night, I measured them right after my session and they were 15.75". Unfortunately this morning they were back to 15.25"
Don't we all wish we could keep that pump!
It doesn't matter how bent over you are for the rows IMO, as long as you keep that angle constant for that set (IMO anyway)
Different angles will hit the lats differently so it's good to vary the angle eg with Pendlays, Yates, seated etc

Whole body DOMS = WTG. Doinitrite!

Haha I loved that little move to transition pullups to chins while still holding yourself up. Very nice looking rows, slow and strict.
Thanks Hammie. I have a few sets of cap standard DB's, and a set of olympic dumbars to add plates to. I would love a set of Iron masters, or a full rack of regular DB's though. Maybe sometime in the near future
Oh yeah a full rack of dbs would be the first thing I'd get if I ever win the lottery, srs! :D The IMs are pretty cool, easy to switch out the plates and they don't have pointy ends on the outsides so no stabbing yourself in the thigh on press set up lol.
-
DOMS everywhere!! :D Not surprised after that huge session. The rows will keep that back growing nicely! hehe and I could not help see cmoore's influence on you with the pullups/chinups vid. GJ Eric, enjoy your rest! :)

Thanks Andrew. I have tried the pendlay rows and just haven't got them to work out yet. I need to practise them some more, I am built kinda funny with long legs and a short torso which makes them feel a little awkward. And yes I wish the pump would hang around at least for a few days.

Back day is my favorite, that and deadlift day. Rows and deads are my strong point, although they are still kinda weak:)

Thanks Louise, the pull-up/chin-up supersets were kinda fun like playing on the monkey bars:)

That was it for today. Felt really strong on the squats today and after 2 reps of 275 I felt like I had some more in me. So I stopped there and loaded up 315, which was a mistake. My right ham tightened up on me and all I could do was drop it on the safeties. At least I can be confident now that they will save me when needed;). My left elbow tendon was pretty tight on the skulls and I tried not to get crazy on those. Don't know if the tightness was from the colder weather, or from previous workouts. My basement isn't heated on my gym side. Either way it was a good session and I can already tell that I will be feeling it later. Today's food

Good strength on that 275 x 2 Eric! it was nice and deep as well
315 looked really good and deep but you just couldn't get that drive up started from so deep in the hole. It was a worthy fail and you'll get that sometime before Christmas. Try for a 295 next time and see how you go
Good heavy work afterwards --- the leg pressing is looking really strong

Thanks Andrew. Once I hit bottom on the 315 attempt I knew it wasn't going back up, my right hamstring felt like it was on fire at the bottom.
I will try 295 next time I feel strong on them.

Good work big guy. I think 315 is just a radio station change away :D
Stay with it.

That was it for today. I am sore in my traps, lats, hams and glutes still, the hams are really sore. I made it up to 105 on the MP's and they felt pretty good, hopefully in the near future I can get back to a respectful weight, but no rush. Today's foods I shot a quick posing video for a progress update. I have no idea of how to pose properly :)

I remember the old pics of where you started from Eric, inspirational progress!
Are you starting to get comments flying your way with the changes you've made?
I think you said the next few weeks you are increasing your caloric intake. Keep pounding away! :)
Impressed you could churn out all that work on the leg press after the squats.
Was the ham problem a pulled muscle or cramp?
-
Loads of work for shoulders and arms Eric --- your shoulder must be improving if you can MP 105 x 10 now
Nice cuts showing now Eric --- mirin' that biceps vein and the definition in your arms and delts. Lats, arms and shoulders are all looking really good.

Thanks Louise, I don't get many comments IRL. The Ham was just a cramp.

Thanks Andrew. The shoulder was feeling very good last night, hope things keep going in this direction. The vascularity is coming in pretty nicely. Five or 10 more pounds to go though.

Off today. Got up at 3:00 am this morning and hit the woods, saw a few young deer but no shooters. Got home at 2:00 pm and hooked up my trailer to go pick up 12 round bales of hay for my cows, put them in the barn and then cut a red oak at my moms that was dead and sawed it up for firewood. Got home at dark. I am tired. Going to be up at 3:00 am again tomorrow.
-
Strong "off day." :D Sounds like fun and some added cardio though.

That was it for today. I am still really tired but felt good otherwise. I did some cuban presses and arm circles to warm up the shoulders, and after my normal bench session I decided to experiment with the grip width a little and see what I could tolerate. On the inclines the wider grip felt better than the narrow grip, but on the flat presses the wider grip is extremely painful. I think I have it worked out though for now, and will try widening the flat grip as possible. My triceps were pretty much shot after all the benchpressing so nothing spectacular on those today. Today's food Diet was off today, not as much protien as I would have liked but it is what it is. I didn't see any deer today and will go to a different place to hunt tomorrow morning.

That was a huge amount of pressing, and with the OH tri presses and the skulls it's no wonder that your triceps were toast!
You look very strong on the 175 x 8 flat bench. Once you get comfortable with your arm position you should be able to bump the weight pretty easily.
-
Eric, good pressing bud. A couple thoughts on the bench vid. Can you get your hands more straight up? It looks like the bar is too far up towards your fingers. Also, on ascent, your elbows aren't directly under the bar. The back arch and shoulder position looked good. Are there some plates you can put under your feet? I think if you can get your feet flat, you'll get a lot more leg drive. It's weird, but leg drive helps a ton. I definitely lift more using it than not.
I feel ya on wide grip shoulder pain. I avoid wide grip altogether. I just think physiologically it'll never happen for me. I like the stretch from them, but definitely not worth the pain.

Thanks Andrew. The 185 felt pretty heavy, not sure how much I will bump it next week. Maybe 10 pounds if they feel okay, if not 5 pounds. Don't want anymore setbacks for sure.

Thanks Dru. I know I need to work on my grip and try to focus on it. Right now I am trying to rework my crappy form from top to bottom and it is hard to remember all of it, hopefully it will all come together soon. I built the platform to go under my bench because it sits so high, but it still needs a little more height. I may throw another layer of 2x4's under there and see if that helps with the foot placement.

Today was supposed to be deadlift day, but I hunted until lunchtime and then had some other stuff I needed to get done. I am really tired from the last few days of getting up at 3:00 am and think I will take today as an off day and do the deads tomorrow on my regular off day. I am not hunting in the morning, gotta go have a new rear windshield put in my jeep and go vote. I will then come home and deadlift. I weighed 173 this morning and not sure why, maybe just some extra waterweight, will weigh again in the morning and see where I am. Today's food
I put my trail camera out where I hunt a couple of weeks ago and this was one of the pics I found on it today.

I'm amazed at the volume of work done on BP! I like it! Smart thinking to experiment a bit with different grips. Once you get your feet planted firmly on the floor it will be interesting how it goes for you.
Poor bear can't find deer either. Shouldn't he be hibernating soon or is that a myth? What do these guys eat around your parts? Do you have a stream or river close to your property?
Enjoy your rest <--- REST :D Looking forward to your DL work :)

Hi Louise. Yeah that was alot of volume on the benchpresses yesterday, but alot of it was with lower weights just trying new grip widths to see which one hurt the least. Hopefully once I get my form straightened out I can do some moderate weight.
The bears here eat just about anything, they eat acorns mostly this time of year. Throughout the year they eat berries, wild grapes, ant and yellow jacket larvae, deer fawns, fruits or just about anything they can find. That bear wasn't around my house it was at the lake where I hunt. I had thoughts of shooting him this morning, he passed underneath me around 9:00am. But given that I was close to 2 miles into the woods and alone I thought it would be a bad idea. I would likely still be trying to drag his big butt out of the woods:)
